banditskcky11 does make a hell of a good case for "Bob", I have to admit I haven't see the Flyers too much this season, but it's tough to ignore those numbers...

I remember the same argument being made last year for a rookie goalie named Jimmy Howard.

How did that turn out? :D

Howard should have won last years... I find it disgraceful that he was snubbed, the argument was made last year that goalies have their own award. The problem is so do defensemen(the Norris), and forwards have 3(the richard , the Selke, and the ross). No matter what position the best rookie should receive the award. Now I'm not trying to take away from any of the other rookies have good years(particularly Skinner since I would love it if he was wearing the O&B at some point in his career), but the fact is that goalie is the hardest position to come into the league and preform well at. That being said when rookie goalies are hanging with the top 10 in every statistical category and are contributing to their teams record the way Bob is they deserve to be well ahead of the rest of the rookies in the league in consideration for the Calder.

Just my opinion though...

I keep hearing that it's a defenseman, and that is why Myers won it last year.

For him to have the season that he did being a 19 year old defenseman was amazing.

I'm a Wings fan, and I thought Myers deserved it last year. Howard wasn't snubbed, it was a tough rookie class and the best man won.

You make a good point for Bob, I just think some other guys are having good seasons and deserve Calder consideration.

I do completely disagree with the argument that because goalies have the Vezina, they shouldn't be up for Hart or Calder. You're spot on there, that opinion is crap.

I'm a Wings fan and I think Howard is playing better than Myers now and that's all that matters...:D

I don't have any issue with goalies getting consideration for Calders or even Harts.
If they deserve it, then they deserve it, period.

But, I go Skinner over Bob for 2 very, very simple reasons...

1. Philly made the Stanley Cup Finals last year on the back of Michael Leighton. Michael Leighton. I'll repeat... Michael Leighton. A career backup and second tier goalie that couldn't even hang on as a cheap back up in Carolina. Yes, he played extremely well, no doubt. But it's gotta tell me that Philly's system is goalie friendly. Michael Friggin' Leighton.

2. I'm a raging homer and Skinner plays for Carolina.

There ya go. Two iron-clad, unwavering and bulletproof arguments for Skinner for the Calder. :-p
