its 1/4 into the season and Im giving out my awards. what are yours

Jack Adams - Peter Laviolette - 30 pts. leads the league and has 2 goaltenders that probably should not be playing in the NHL with one Ive never even heard of......

Vezina - Tim Thomas - Thomas the Tank is having an amazing year. Runner up is Carey Price.... yep Carey Price.

Calder - Logan Couture - yeah hes one San Jose but he has 3 GWG already

Hart - Steve Stamkos - Really 20 goals already?

Norris - John-Michael Liles - 20 points and plus 11 on Colorado.... wow

Biggest Doofus - Sean Avery - why does this guy still play in this league? when will enough be enough? cmon man......

Biggest Letdown - Roberto Luongo - 2.88 GAA - .907 sv%. this is not elite numbers. whats worse? 7 wins in 16 games.......maybe he should have stayed captain.

Adams: Toss up between Scott Arneil and Jaques Martin. Give the nod to Martin due to east coast bias.

Vezina: Thomas by a decent margin over Price

Calder: SKINNNNERRRRRR (homer alert!)

Hart: Hard to argue against Stamkos. I'm sure many can... but i won't. Takes it by a tiny tiny tiny margin over Sid. Recounts are in progress.

Norris: Going off the reservation here since we are only woking of 21 games and throwing out Byfuglien. 4GW for the blueline? And not of the Nic Wallin accidental game winners variety, but some highlight reel material.

Biggest Doofus: anyone who belives the Crosby Reebok viral ads aren't faked/edited.

Letdown: Don't think Kovalchuck is playing quite up to a level that NJ faithful had in mind...

and I can't spell Arniel or Jacques, apparently, so due to computer error the Adams goes to Dave Tippett by Commissioner decree

Jack Adams - Mike Babcock - Continues to do a fantastic job with the Wings

Vezina - Carey Price - Stickin' it to the Habs faithful

Calder - P.K. Subban - Most important blueliner in the Habs lineup with Markov out

Hart - Steven Stamkos - I've seen Stamkos and I'm very impressed

Norris - Nicklas Lidstrom - The Dick Clark of the NHL

Biggest Doofus - Colin Campbell - no explanation required

Biggest Letdown - Gotta go with Ilya Kovalchuk

Jack Adams - Scott Arniel - BJs sucked last year. They're good this year so far. That's basically what the award is now.

Vezina - Tim Thomas - 1.49 GAA and .954 Sv%

Calder - Jeff Skinner - He's been impressive thus far.

Hart - Sidney Crosby - 14 point lead over his closest teammate in scoring, who is an all star himself. That's more points than any player on the Islanders has. Fuck Stamkos.

Norris - Dustin Byfuglien - 7 goals and 19 points with the Trash? Lidstrom is a good choice too.

Biggest Doofus - Whoever came up with the All Star ballot.

Biggest Letdown - New Jersey Devils - They really suck.

Dustin Byfuglien is a defenceman? Am I crazy or was he not a forward when he was with the Blackhawks? Did the Thrashers turn him into a defenceman?

Jack Adams - Joe Sacco: has done well with injuries to the D and goalies and kept a still young team competetive. HM: Arniel, Laviolette.

Vezina - Thomas

Calder - Skinner

Hart - Price: The Habs would be farked without his play thus far.

Norris - Lidstrom: Fine wine it would seem. Unreal.

Biggest doofus - Tie between Bettman, Avery and Colie.

Biggest letdown - Elite goalies like Lou, Miller and Brodeur have struggled for various reasons.

He played both for the Blackhawks I believe. Was a forward during the playoffs. Played with Toews.

Yup. It seemed crazy in training camp but it's looking like gold so far.

he plays d, but they plant his fat ass in front of the net on powerplays.
it seems to be working.

lol.. he did say "biggest letdown"

hard to beat that one

lol, yup I just like the dry wit of "Don't think Kovalchuck is playing quite up to a level that NJ faithful had in mind".

Ive watched a ton of Thrashers games this year, the Mrs likes them, and Byfuglien has been really solid for them. Not great defensively but offensively and as a presence on the ice he has been good. He has quite a shot too.

Ahhh okay. I mostly only watched the Hawks during the playoffs last year so that is why I was sure he was a forward. He's definitely built to be a defenceman as well. Its definitely an asset to be able to play both (and play them well) at this level when needed. Thanks to you and the others that responded.

Jack Adams - Peter Laviolette, great team but he is doing a good job

Vezina - Hard to argue with Tim Thomas

Calder - Jeff Skinner, PK has been good but wont have enough points to get consideration IMO

Hart - Stamkos, hes doing well and so is the team despite injuries

Norris - I gotta go with Byfuglien. 19 points and 4 gwg so far is impressive. The 0 +- is not too bad considering the Thrashers goalie situation early on

Biggest doofus - Homer pick Lapierre.

Biggest letdown - Ilya, Devils overall.

Jack Adams - Sacco: Making the most of what he's got in Colorado right now and has them in the third seed in the West. Anderson's been hurt this year, too.

Vezina - Tim Thomas: The numbers don't lie.

Calder - Skinner: He leads all rookies in points and is a pretty good defensive player, too.

Hart - Sidney Crosby: Stamkos is having a phenomenal season with 0.95 G/G and 1.67 Pts/G, but St. Louis is third in the league in points, which can't hurt. Crosby's been just a little behind Stamkos's pace, and he's doing it with Malkin only playing at a little under a Pt/G pace, and only Kunitz as a legitimate top-six winger option. He's carried the Penguins this year.

Norris - John-Michael Liles: Top in points, first of all, but more impressively near the top in +/- on a team that's ranked 21st in team defense. Honorable mentions to Lidstrom and Letang, who are both putting up great numbers as well. I like Byfuglien, but he's getting a lot of points on the powerplay playing as a forward, and hasn't been all that great defesnively, lowering his stock in my opinion.

Biggest Doofus - Colie: How do you let Avery get away with using his stick as a weapon unpenalized and then suspend Thornton for two games for having a guy run into him? Pathetic.

Biggest Letdown - The New Jersey Devils: I say this because two of my top three let downs were Kovalchuk and Brodeur. This way I can group them together in one pick.

its 1/4 into the season and Im giving out my awards. what are yours

Jack Adams - Dave Tippet - I know he won it last year, but the Coyotes are still performing far too well for a team that could move to Hawaii or Canada or Europe or the Sun on a week's notice.

Vezina - Tim Thomas - Consensus for a reason. Price and Bobrovsky are hot, but Bruins games are being delayed because they have to reice the surface that Thomas melts simply by being near between periods.

Calder - I don't follow rookies enough. Sorry, I'm abstaining from this one.

Hart - Tim Thomas - Thomas has one more goal allowed than the leading scorer on his team, Nathan "Not Ovechkin" Horton, has POINTS. Clearly he has stolen Ryan Miller's lucky rubber duck. If you believe, as you should, that the Hart goes to the player most valuable to his team, then consider this: Stamkos is on pace to score about 120 points in 82 games this year. The NHL record for points in a season is 155 for those of us mortals not named Gretzky or Lemieux. Thomas has a GAA of 1.49; if he finished the season with that, it would beat the modern era record of 1.72 by Turco in 03 and be the lowest GAA since at least Kerr in 39-40.

Norris - Anyone not named Mike Greene.

Biggest Doofus - Steven Stamkos - See, it would be Campbell here, but going by his disciplinary system, I have to choose the wrong guy to punish. Sorry Stamkos!

Biggest Letdown - The Atlantic Division Yeah, yeah, we have the Flyers and Pens and Rangers, but you want to know a little secret? It's easy to look good when you play the Islanders and Devils 6 times each. Devils are trying to get the Atlantic off of this section by stringing a few wins together, but if the Islanders don't break their losing streak by beating the Devils on Friday, they (the Isles) could lose 19 straight, as they have a rough few weeks coming up.

you know the NHL has gone wrong when people start looking at points as the top stat for who should win the Norris.
