Of course he also said we should go with Tebow and hated the Manning signing in 2012. That wasn't so visionary. :behindsofa:
But isn't that one of the reasons why football is so great? you never really know what to expect, I think thats why people like Gruden don't want to get back into coaching...they will ruin their image

There is no quarterback controversy in Denver. It's Brock Osweiler's job to lose now. The only unknown is how Peyton will handle the demotion or if he'll even have to with his current health issues. Of course I'm sad about the end of Manning's career but it happens to all the greats. I'm focusing my attention now on the young QB that looks like he might just have the hutzpah to lead our team well into the future!

I read he came down at half-time to help Brock with some adjustments that he saw from upstairs. It is definitely easier to see what is happening from upstairs (perhaps that is why PM wasn't at field level). Field level view is about as bad as it gets.
Not that it matters much but Manning was in locker room watching game not upstairs was my understanding. He was watching game on tele like the rest of us.

I remember watching Johnny Unitas run out of gas as a QB. Right now - that's was Manning's fade reminds me of.

This team could just be playing hard for Manning. Is it cut and dry as a full time starter Brock is gonna be elite?

... that wasn't so much a comment on my trust in Tebow, but my fear of Manning

I am very happy though with the direction the team has taken, with Kubiak and his style of offense ... For me, it is much more interesting and exciting than Gase's offense . .

I don't think any of us are thinking Brock is elite by any means. Could he get there of course but right now we are just happy to be seeing competent QB play again. I think most of us here love and respect Manning for all he has done for the NFL and for the Broncos especially but there is a point where even a HOF player like Manning is hurting the team and so even having average play from the Back Up QB is a huge upgrade for the position. Like I said when you have seen the worst QB play in the league all season long until these last couple of games even average looks incredible. Thankfully with Brock he has even been above average so far this year for us.

How he does moving forward none of us know. He does give us hope that maybe the Broncos have found their QB for the next 10 years though.

I think it reminds me more of Dan Marino. I think if I remember right his team lost 62-7 in the playoffs. Really if the Broncos didn't have a great defense that Chiefs game could have looked much much worse than what it was. Anyway he ended up going 11-25 for 1 touchdown, 2 interception, and 2 lost fumbles. Not exactly the way you would expect a HOF player to go out.

This is one reason why John Elway was so great. He went out on TOP. So rare for something like that to happen.

It really is. So many of these guys think they can keep playing. Heck I bet Elway could have played at least at an average level for another few years if he really wanted to. The winning the Super Bowl though was the last thing on his check list of things he needed in his career and winning it twice hard to think you can do much more.

And not just that but some key players weren't going to be back next season either. Easy decision for Elway.

I could be wrong on this, but I recall reading things about a falling out between Elway and Shanahan after the second SB .... Shanahan supposed was quoted as saying something to the effect of "This team can win no matter who the QB", and apparently that was the final straw for Elway and his decision to retire

99.9 % of athletes do not go out on their own terms becuase they stick around too long.

Marino did win a playoff game the week so he was not one and done.

At this point thankfully Kubiak and Elway have been able to kick this can down the road on what happens at the QB position. I do think there will come a point though that they will have to make a decision and I do hope they decide just as Deion said and stick with Osweiler. Let's say we go into the playoffs and decide to start Manning and lose first round...To me not only does that cause a rift between Osweiler and Kubiak especially if say Osweiler hasn't lost a game when Manning takes over but it also causes a huge rift between the Broncos and their fans. I honestly can live with us losing with Osweiler at the helm. I would be very upset to lose with Manning at the helm if Osweiler is healthy.
