I dislike fruit in beer and especially a "fruit beer" or one that has that taste to it. Yuck. Pumpkin is a fruit. A berry btw.

Big time Nay for me. Hate pumpkin beers

Just had a big bottle share with world class bottles being popped and we opened one that's got some hype behind it, Terrapin's Imperial Pumpkin Pie Porter. God awful.

I'm done with pumpkin beers. They're gross

As with every style, some suck. As with every style, some are damn tasty.

My wife is a huge fan, so I've tasted lots of them. Brooklyn's Post Road is among the best I've tried.

Best Pumpkin Beer I have had so far this season is Wicked Weeds, "Jack 'o Hammered". Very well done, extremely drinkable. mmmm. The Sour Pumpkin is a close second.

Why waste time on Pumpkin beers when some of the best beers on the planet are available at the same time? I love me a good Marzen.

1. Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale
City:Easton, Penn.
ABV: 8%
Tastes like: Pumpkin Bread
Pumpkin flavor: High
Spiciness: High
Perfect for: Every day in October
The verdict:: This is what a pumpkin beer should be. It tastes unmistakably pumpkin-y while still very much tasting like beer. The label lists cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and cloves, but no single spice throws it off balance. This is what a pumpkin beer should aspire to be.

This one is high quality. Best one I've had if you can find it by you was Terrapin Pumpkinfest. Delicious.

I've never tried pumpkin beer....but in the 4 years I was in Germany, every town has it's own brew and everyone has a different taste. Sense then, I'll try any beer. And so far, I've never had a bad one.

I would be game.

Hmmmmm....

Chili w/pumpkin beer?

Bet it would work...

Absolutely... I've ben known to make crazy chili with all kinds of weird ingredients. I think I might go get a small pumpkin to chop up as an ingredient....

I'm thinking:

beef
pork
pumpkin
tomoato
bell pepper
jalapeno
onion
black beans
garlic
chili powder
cayanne
paprika
cocoa powder
cumin
pumpkin ale

Anything else? I may add brown sugar at the end - depending on how hot it turns out...

If you find yourself in the vicinity of Wicked Weed Brew pub (Asheville, NC), the Jack o Hammered is a fantastic pumpkin beer, WW made three pumpkins this year, the other two are ok only, one being a Sour. I've had a few pumpkin beers over the years and by far "Jack-o-Hammered" is the best I have tasted.
