Okay, well...to begin, that was one of the most entertaining hockey experiences of my life. Seriously, nothing tops it. It was a wild atmosphere, and Pens-nation truly invaded Columbus. I *almost* felt bad for their fans, but one dummy ruined it. Secondly, I don't think I've ever seen the team look this good. Even thinking back to that away stretch they had at the end of the 09 season...it wasn't this good. The team is just...clicking. And perhaps the scariest part of it all is a.) we don't have Staal back, and b.) we don't *really* have Geno back either. If Staal comes back and plays to his abilities we have one of the deepest teams in the league...if Geno ever returns to post-season 09 version, this is a very scary good team. That and Sid doesn't look like he plans on ever slowing down. He's pulled away from Stamkos for the moment (I think Stamkos was held scoreless while his team put up 6 goals? Could be mistaken though...) and as of RIGHT NOW he's the best player on the planet. Forgive me for rambling and gushing...it's just that after getting to see them in person for the first time this season, I've never been more optimistic.

Glad you had a good time, pix. It's a great arena.

And Pens Nation didn't invade. They were already here. This was Pens territory before the Jackets ever got here. Most of those people you saw with Pens gear on will be back in Jackets gear next game.

Ideally, here's what I see:

We keep this hot streak going for a while. Cool off a little bit while we adjust to Staal's return, although the defense stays red-hot. Then, with a month to go in the regular season, the offense clicks and we enter the post-season as favourites.

Speaking from the perspective who generally doesn't look at the standings in until March unless my team is out of it, it's just nice to see them doing lots of little things well that help win hockey games. Just put in the order for my Michalek jersey. He and Martin making Shero look good.

Nothing like Crosby and Fleury both getting hot at the same time...What happened to all the Fire Bylsma talk?

That was rubbish to begin with. Sometimes people are so fickle...I specifically loved the group that was praising Therrien to the skies.

Byslma never gets any credit for the things he does well. The Pk and D are doing well? Must be the players! The powerplay sucks? Must be the coach!

Oh and now people are going the opposite...there's actually a thread at HF asking if this is the most complete Pens team ever (though thankfully everyone is disagreeing).

Remember...never as bad as you are in your losing streaks, never as good as you look when you win.

Not directed at you pix. It is exciting right now.

It is the best Pens D I've seen in a while though. That's probably where the idea for 'most complete' came from. But the gaping hole at wing kind of offsets that.

I think what makes me most excited is that they're doing those little things that only the great teams do. The PK (and sort of PP) is looking fantastic, the D solid, etc. Sure, there are still issues, but by playing like a team, they look great. I agree loki, far too early to claim anything...but exciting nonetheless.

That's what is exciting for me too...the overall good play, the sacrificing, the confidence, Kunitz playing like a first liner, etc.

Koon has been one of the best parts of this streak.
