Prospect Profile: #6 Kevin Connauton | CanucksArmy

from Don Hay:
“He’s got great offensive skills - those skills will get him to the NHL. It's those defensive skills that will keep him there. He’s got really good skating ability, that can get him out of trouble, but learning the small details of the defensive game will make him stick."

can't wait to see him stick with the club.

Prospect Profile: #5 Jordan Schroeder | CanucksArmy

Scott McWilliam of NHL Central Scouting:
Schroeder may yet be a secret little weapon for the Canucks - If he has the right linemates - He could light it up yet!

And what’s McWilliam’s high mark of what Schroeder could be?
Patrick Kane - he could be that good with a less selfish streak in him.

CA Prospect Profiles: #4 Brendan Gaunce | CanucksArmy

At the February showcase game in beautiful Kelowna, Gaunce finished first in nine categories of testing while scouts witness him rack up twelve top 10 finishes at the recent 2012 NHL Combine. His commitment to all aspects of hockey has paid off as Bulls’ Head Coach Burnett leaned heavily on his star forward using him in all situations. Additionally, the second year center was named an assistant captain adopting a leadership role that Gaunce was born to fill.
...
Brendan is a prototypical coaches' player. He'll win a face off in the final minute, kill penalties as a three or four-man unit, battle on the sideboards and in the corner night in and night out, and generally just be your dependable number one or two centreman (in the OHL). Overall, he brings the full package to a hockey team. He's an intelligent kid, plays an honest game, and is an imposing force on the ice. He will likely get the 'C' in Belleville this year as an 18-year-old,
...
He's got among the best vision and playmaking ability in the OHL. His play away from the puck is outstanding too and it really helps to create time and space for his linemates. He's also way more physical than Jordan (Staal) ever was. Brendan is someone who thrives on the physical aspects of the game.

CA Prospect Profiles: #3 Nicklas Jensen | CanucksArmy

In Oshawa last year he was a leader in all modes of the game, be it power play, even strength or penalty kill. Roger Hunt, one of the Generals’ assistant coaches, spoke with Canucks Army about Jensen’s two years in the OHL.

“He played both sides of the game for us, the power play is a slam dunk but he killed penalties and became a strong guy for us there,” he said. “A lot of our offensive success came through him. He loves scoring and that is his thing, but he will become a complete player.”

He has shown hes a fit, lean, ripped guy in the past with his propensity to doff his shirt a la Mathew McConaughey for photo shoots but Connauton looks to be putting on mass now ... looks bigger

dummy Mooger put it in the wrong spot :D

CA Prospect Profiles: #1 Zack Kassian | CanucksArmy

He is one of the best prospects in hockey according to a number of scouts, and he brings many attributes to the ice that the Canucks have lacked in recent years - physicality, size, and intimidation

The range of opinions was wide (to say the least), but there was common thought throughout each conversation – if Kassian can be brought up with strong leaders around him, the sky is the limit.

We definitely have the luxury of being able to bring Zack along slowly. He'll look great in Chicago this year during the lockout.
