Pros and Cons of Iowa St week

This was a tough week for this but here it goes.


Pros:

The holder for Iowa St's field goals is incapable of throwing anything but a floater.
Austin Cassidy had a HUGE pick 6
Iowa St's holder has a jello arm
Much better on 3rd down conversions this week, 50%
Rex ran really hard!!!
Iowa St's holder has a noodle arm
Kansas scored 35 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to beat Colorado 52-45
Texas got destroyed by a Kansas St team that started a former WR at QB for the first time.
2 teams ahead of Nebraska got beat
On a personal note this week: My favorite band, Huey Lewis and the News released a new album "Soulsville" this week. I am so happy.
Kunalic was BOOMING the ball
On another personal note this week: My Tennessee Titans finally got a big time WR. I am so happy.


Cons:

Overall:

I was feeling pretty confident after taking a 14 point lead in the 3rd quarter. Then Niles Paul showed up. This game was frustrating but looking back at it now I am not as frustrated. We found out why Cody Green has been demoted to 3rd string (see my Cody Green thread for more thoughts on him). We found out that we are better off with Rex as our #3 QB.

I looked at my phone during the game for an update on scores and saw the Kansas/Colorado game was 35-10 for Colorado at about halftime and never even thought about checking that score again because it was over. I was blown away after someone told me the final score. Only 1 of the TDs in the 4th quarter for Kansas was not an offensive TD. Simply AMAZING!!!!!!

As stressful as this game against Iowa St was I was glad that they sat Taylor. He obviously needed the extra rest. I am tempted to say that we should rest him again this week but only if we have Rex as our starting QB, assuming Zac still has a tired arm from throwing those 3 second half passes in the Missouri game.

Go ahead and rip me for my love of Huey Lewis and the News.

Anthony West is a very awful corner. I don't understand how all the other corners (even true freshman) seem to be picking up everything the coaches are teaching them.

This guy has been here for a decade and still doesn't know that when guarding a receiver, the receiver is probably going to try to catch the ball with his hands............so follow his hands with your hand and knock the ball away

Niles is probably the most inconsistent player Nebraska has ever had..........he did quite a bit for us in a 10 point win over Oklahoma State and I sometimes wonder if we would have won that game if he didn't make all those catches and also return that kickoff for a TD.

But then I also think about how he could have basically single handedly won the game for us against Texas, and he almost single handedly lost the game for us yesterday against Iowa State.

Did you see the difference in kickoffs going one side or the other? Did you see the clips of them showing Henery doing warm up FGs in direction we were going in OT? It was coming in hard from that endzone.

I don't know if you're being serious or not, but Nebraska loses that game if not for the wind there on that play. That is a damn guarantee. You could see the ball take off and then balloon upward into the air.

Had that been a qb throwing the ball then no..... but when you have your punter trying to throw the ball 20 ft into a 30 mph wind and he thinks he can just make a touch pass................ He tried making a touch pass into a strong wind- the ball lifted........

Pro's and Cons of this game...

All I can say is, "I am glad we do not have to go play in that wind driven sandbox anymore and we played like SHIT!"

A win is a win, but I just don't understand how we can play so well against good teams and so bad against bad ones. Our defense did not look great, I understand the offensive struggles with Green in but I am not sure what was up with the defense.
