it's not about his ego at all! it was/is the right thing to do, deadspin gave a great ballot, I'd like to search out the writers who voted for Jacques Jones and Armando Benitez (sp?)!!! That's the real joke!!!

He's got a point. The same sports writers who want to condemn the steroid era are the same people who were sucking up to McGwire and Sosa in 98 just to sell more newspapers.

The biggest hypocrites in sports are the holier-than-thou self-important sports writers.

Better ballot than most. And I like the idea of the fans getting a ballot in some way. There are hundreds of people win a ballot, a fan poll that fills out one is a good idea.

I think what he did was great! It killed two birds with one stone...

1) Created a very defensible ballot

2) Drew attention to the number of absolute BS ballots that exist out there

How can votes for Armando Blownitez, Kenny Rogers, Jacques Jones, JT Snow or Eric Gagne be defended? Those are more disgraceful to the process than opening it up to fans who obviously care more about this thing than half the BBWA voters.
