Trade a young winger for a struggling defensive d-man and sign an aging offensive d-man to a contract at least one year too long. Fire the coach when it doesn't work out.

If he retires, we are going to be fucked, but I don't see him doing that.

That would really stink. Why wouldnt he want to go on LTIR for the duartion of his contract, he is getting paid as opposed to retiring and getting a coaching job making a third of what he making.

Did anyone really think that Pronger was going to come back? I don't think this changes anything for the Flyers.

I believe everyone knows he wasnt coming back but what makes this news is he's talking retirement now instead of LTIR in which his salary will count against the cap for the duration of the contract. :bawling:

I'd be shocked if Pronger retires anytime soon. It's not as if the Flyers are circumventing anything by having him on LTIR. He had a career ending injury and he's done, so he should remain on LTIR for the rest of his career. That's what LTIR is for.

Yes, the Flyers clearly made a mistake by signing him for that long, but this injury was a freak accident. He should still be playing. It's just horrible luck.

I just assumed he would be on LTIR for the duration until i read that article. Hopefully its all just BS and we continue to have his salary off the cap until it expires.

He'll stay on LTIR and not retire. No worries.
