Trade a young winger for a struggling defensive d-man and sign an aging offensive d-man to a contract at least one year too long. Fire the coach when it doesn't work out.

If he retires, we are going to be fucked, but I don't see him doing that.

I'd be shocked if Pronger retires anytime soon. It's not as if the Flyers are circumventing anything by having him on LTIR. He had a career ending injury and he's done, so he should remain on LTIR for the rest of his career. That's what LTIR is for.
Yes, the Flyers clearly made a mistake by signing him for that long, but this injury was a freak accident. He should still be playing. It's just horrible luck.
I just assumed he would be on LTIR for the duration until i read that article. Hopefully its all just BS and we continue to have his salary off the cap until it expires.
