I still want to build through the draft but that is easier said than done. Hopefully we draft defense early and often. I would like to walk with with high draft picks dedicated to DLine and Safety spots. No need to use all of our Cap Room. We really haven't hit on many FAs in the past 2 years actually outside of Norman. Bottom line is that we can always sign depth players of course. Areas of need heading into 2017:

1. DLine
2. Safety
3. ILB
4. WR

When I say DLine I think a NT and DE are actually a need to be honest. We simply can stop teams running the ball this year.

I tried to leave this comment for the writer but registering on that site is a pain in the ass. What I was going to tell him was articles pronouncing the amount a cap space with total disregard to the number of players under contract for that season are really annoying.

Sure the team with $55 mil in cap space sounds to be in much better shape than the team with only $27M. But what if the first team only has 38 players under contract with that figure and the 2nd team has 50? Well then the situation looks much different.

True enough but in the Redskins case even if their actual # is lower it won't be a problem. If they extend Cousins they don't need to apply the huge cap # next year towards him. They also likely won't be going crazy with big name FAs (unless a Norman type situation occurs again - doubt it).

With even adequate money their FO should do well enough to use free agency to supplement the draft - not use it as their primary means of adding talent (as was done in the past w/ poor results). They have a decent amt of overall talent - just need to shore up certain areas - most of which have been mentioned in this thread.

I just liked seeing 5.3 in dead cap space and remembered when the number was annually twice that. I don't think there is any question we are in a good cap situation, we'll need it as Kirk's number is going up by the week.

I'll consider it a successful off-season if we bring back Jackson, Garçon, Davis, sign a NT, draft a FS and move Cravens to SS.
