4 of them off the top of my head. I don't remember having a RB out of Miami or MSU. Maybe Buster Rhymes?

Chuck Foreman your first 1000 yard rusher was out of Miami.

I've got Frank Gore from Miami and Lawrence Phillips from Nebraska. (Although that's probably someone else since Phillips is mostly known as a 9er for missing the block that ended Steve Young's career).

Lawrence Philips was totally wacked, once in a flag game in a park he got pissed and took after some kids in his truck, whoa! Was in prison not sure what for.

But.....Roger Craig was the best Nebraska Niner RB.

Nailed Gore.

Bedford County Training School, an all black Tennessee high school in the 40;s.

National Record
The 52 straight shutout wins is a national record which dwarfs the second most consecutive wins by shutout at 19 by Arcadia High School (Neb.) 1955-56.

Alcoa football coach Gary Rankin said, “It’s difficult to compare eras, but what Bedford County did with that long scoreless streak is quite impressive. I can’t imagine anyone ever coming close to that record.”

“For two or three years no one crossed midfield on us,” said 1948 team captain Sam Abernathy, 82, with a smile.

Found out about that in a book about rare football stuff.

See, nobody takes the time to Google things.

Ok, the answer...

1. Give me five HBCU running backs that had at least one 1000 yards rushing in a pro season?

J.D.Smith was the first, he was a converted college DB, out of NCA&T (just won the NCAA indoor 4x4 relay vs the big schools) he was a Niner

Clem Daneils was the first Raider to have a 1000 yard season he was also a converted DB, out of Prarie View.

Leroy Kelly took over after Jim Brown retired, they didn't miss a beat, Morgan Stater. HOFer

The great Walter Payton, out of Jackson State, nuff said.

Willie Ellison Texas Southern a Ram.
