This is an ill-conceived deal for the Tigers. Fielder projects to degrade very quickly, and in three years he'll be a liability.
Cabrera is terrible defensively, and Fielder isn't much better. He doesn't go left well, and he struggles on any throw below his knees.
Beyond that, his body type projects his performance to start declining sleeply when he turns thirty. Couple that with the way his father's career degraded around thirty, and you've got a guy who will be making $20 million in a couple of years, and giving you about $5 million in production.
But Boras (although I hate him) is very good at his trade.
