Good points from everyone on both sides. I tend to agree with the points that demonstrate that the Rams really laid the ground-work for this hold-out and AD is just plain being a child in all of this. The Austin, Mark Barron, and other ridiculous contracts are what laid the ground-work for this action by AD. Overpaying a complete turd like Austin got AD behaving like a pouting little child and now they have both sides just screwing this whole thing up.

If the Rams FO knew what they were doing, this would have been completed long ago along with Trumaine's contract as well as Ogletree and Gurley's. Hell they gave Whitworth and Woods a boatload of cash and now they can't seem to find a way to extend AD's contract? This team will never be a winner like what is in Pittsburgh and New England until they get rid of the dopes running this dog and pony show!!

If the Rams let go of Harkey and Cody Davis, that frees up about $3 million in cap space this year. We could try and get that money to Donald to increase his base salary this year. We have plenty of cap room to sign him long term and get our other core players on defense re-signed. I don't think his contract will inhibit the team from future investments, considering we don't have a lot great players on our roster, let alone any that are locked up long term. That's why I'm not afraid of the team handing out a massive contract to a future HOF player, even if it's at DT.

Yea RamsFann88. We fans and the Rams need to slow-down on the get-rid-of-the-guy-and-get-draft-picks-for-him rhetoric which is an always-building mentality. At some point, and especially with the talent like AD, we have to do everything to keep him and get rid of other lesser players just like we did with GRob. Winners keep their talent as much as possible until they are really done and build with them into a consistent winner which we have not done since the days of Dick Vermeil.

I would agree Retro, except for the fact the guy is being selfish. If the reported 5 yr/100M contract was offered and subsequently turned down by him, he is all about "me".

This guy has to know the Rams still need to extend several key players ( mostly on the defensive side which makes his job easier btw ). They can't be giving him more than 20M per and sign everyone else as well.

There is a reason the Pats have stayed on top for so long. They players buy into the team and sign favorable contracts vs being all about "me" and handcuffing the team.

The Rams need players like that, not "me" first players. Wilfork never made 20M per. Just saying.
