It really didn't take long for Eifert to get Bengalized...... I'm fairly sure we'll never see him catch a ball over the middle again.

I'm pretty sure Mike Glennon is a better qb than Dalton.

What a crappy effort.... For a team that gets credited with a lot of depth, our reservers are even getting their asses kicked.

Mike Glennon and Zach Mettenberger should demand a trade to a team needing a starting QB....

NY Jets
Buffalo Bills
Cleveland Browns
Cincinnati Bengals
Washington Redskins
Houston Texans

I believe I was on record several times last offseason hoping we would draft Mettenberger. I still believe he could be a good one in this league. Big, strong arm, smart kid. Instead we drafted AJ McCarron. Tattoo enthusiast and resident medical marvel from hillbilly country. At least we finally saw him take a snap in a Bengals jersey tonight. Let's just say we've probably seen enough already.

McCarron is captain check down...... He really learned a lot from Jason Cambell last year.

As for the passes he actually threw over 5 yards..... Ugh.

Very uninspiring performance. In fairness to him, it was his first live NFL action. It was unrealistic to expect much different than what we saw. That said, I think we can safely put to rest any notion that McCarron needs to be starting or is better than Dalton. He is exactly who everyone thought he was. A backup.

Dalton had a rough night, but let's not forget that the OL gave him zero time to throw, allowed him to be sacked multiple times, and watched a pass go right through AJ's hands (completely catchable) for an INT return for TD.

There were a lot of things wrong last night (and that was just some of them on the offense, let's not forget about the defense, too) and Dalton wasn't the best, but damn, he was far from the biggest issue last night on offense.

Oh I agree. Last night was far from just Dalton's fault. He was bad, but so was everyone else. I blame the coaches for the most part. Typical Marvin Lewis team in primetime. No energy, no urgency, no real semblance of a gameplan.

It's on the players to perform at a high level, obviously, and they came nowhere close to doing that last night. However, there's an alarming trend with every Bengals playoff/primetime game. They all look the exact same. Outclassed, out coached, out schemed, outplayed in every phase of the game. Dalton takes the brunt of the heat, as he should. But at some point the coach has to be held responsible for the team getting absolutely dominated and humiliated.

This all stating the obvious and of little consequence. We all know the Brown family has no shame, no interest in improving. So honestly who the hell cares anymore.

Honestly, I think there was probably just a big difference in motivation for the two teams. TB was playing their first home game with Winston as the qb and they came out motivated to make it work. The Bengals looked tired - Not sure if it was their practice schedule, first road trip, Florida heat, or what, but they got physically beat.... Even guys that are generally good players got whipped. There are a lot of reasons why you get your butt kicked in a preseason game, and lots of good teams have it happen.

All that said, there were some really disappointing things that are bad signs for the season. Green's drop, Dalton's overthrow to the middle of the field, and Hill's fumble were all eerily similar to things that happen to this team in big games. The missed tackles cost us a game or two in the middle of last season. Eifert looks like a guy that is a risk for injury at any minute. Linebackers look slow -- We need Burfict back.

Hall looked terrible.

Outside of Atkins and Hardison, the DT's are meh. Peko is a waste. How this team continues to run him out there is beyond silly. He's constantly pushed out of the way at the POA. I'd keep Sims over Peko at least he adds some size to the line next to Atkins and can command a few doubles here and there.

I thought the pass-rush was actually pretty good. TB just did a better job of getting those quick outs before someone could get there. I also saw a ton of holding off the edges that wasn't called (surprisingly enough as it seemed these refs were going to call EVERY little thing the entire game).

Then, just the overall lack of tackling was mind boggling. How many times did Martin go down, only to bounce up before hitting the ground and get 3-4-5 (or in that one run 20) more yards after the first hit. Too many guys just assumed he was going to go down.

Yes, I remember, as I was in favor of drafting him too. I liked him out of LSU.

Oh well, that ship has sailed. I hope they are much better next week, as they can't get any worse than tonight. It will not be a prime time game though so the results should be better which only leads to false hope once again. I honestly do not know what to make of this team. They have the talent to win a SB but can't put anything together when they need to. This team looks like a 7-9 team to 11-5 teams. I am having a hard time figuring out which team we actually are going to have this year with our schedule.

Given that this is a nationally televised game, I fully expect us to look like shit.

Shocking that this prediction was spot on.

The Bengals just always look disorganized and lost to me. Like very few of them have any concept of what the other players are doing or what they are supposed to do. It's a continuous clusterfuque. Even horrible teams are basically on the same page, they just lack talent. The Bengals HAVE talent and STILL can't get their act together. This goes from the top down as usual.

No it's unrealistic to expect any QB to do anything when your 1st 2 drives are marred with stupid penalties, then you get the ball on the 1 and your OL can't even stop a safety on an up the middle run.

He actually lead the only drive for Cincy all game when he had room to work with. He was smart, took what was there and moved the ball. That's how you win football games. Penalties kill drives and that's exactly what happened.

You're complaining because a QB took what the defense gave him and made a successful drive out of it?

You guys are funny. I came here looking for some reasonable assessment of the game as I'm just finishing it up. NOPE.
