The Chicago Bears will be playing the Patriots at Gillette Stadium, Thursday August 18. The Bear flew into Foxboro Sunday night and have been conducting practices with the Patriots all week.

On day one, things started to get a bit testy on both sides.

The Bears got whacked in their preseason opener by the Denver Broncos 22-0.

This is the final chance for all of the wannabees to make coaches notice them. Next week is when everything
starts to get serious and the bubble bursts for at least 20 extras on all rosters.

I'll try to do as much play by play as possible, but it may be delayed. I believe the game is on NFL Network or ESPN.

I don't know when it will air for you all in Mass but over here on the West Coast, it airs on NFL Network Friday at 1pm PST - 4pm EST. I don't see it on ESPN for Thursday.

They need to stop putting these games on channels people don't have. They are going to loss a huge following (TV ratings) if the "cord cutting" continues across this country. No reason for a PS game to be on a network that only some can get....the NFL needs it's own streaming channel that people can just buy. Not force people to get DirecTV or something like that to watch the Sunday Package.

NFL Network is replaying the game Friday and Saturday. Not great for fans who want to see it live.

WBZ Channel 4 (CBS) in Boston is covering the game live and an ABC affiliate here in NH (WMUR CH 9) pays to pick up the feed. WBZ is supposed to be streaming it live for anyone beyond their broadcast signal. WMUR may also be streaming it.

It somewhat does. All preseason games are streamed live on what is called NFL Gamepass. They don't do this for the regular season games. They do however post them after the live game is over maybe a half hour or so after the game is over. To get the entire NFL package it cost I think $100. And honestly I love it. IF you don't have directtv this is the best way to watch all the NFL games. They have a condensed version that just shows the plays of the game so you don't have to spend 3 hours watching every game but can get most of them done in around 40 minutes.

Oh I know. I just think it time for the NFL to give something back to it's fans an offer just a streaming package with out having to subscribe to Sat or Cable. Ya know, like a channel on Roku. I tried the game pass and was not a huge fan. Certainly not for 100$, unless they changed it. It's preseason, the games should be free considering they are on Thursday, Friday, Sat nights, people work. Sunday's are no work...LOL...see where I am going. HA!

I'm a fan of it just because you can watch most of the games pretty quickly. I don't have Directtv and Monday's are a bit easier day for me so I can have the games playing in the background and get a bit caught up on what all happened.

I would love though for the NFL to get an online package. I think they know they have to head that way but they also know right now they have Directtv and other Cable networks by the family jewels because without the NFL they would lose probably half their customers if not more. So they pay ridiculous money to the NFL to keep that from happening. Still the NFL did stream at least one game live last year to try the whole thing out. I think it was one of the games overseas that they did that. So I think in the next 10 years the NFL will go the way you want but unfortunately that means we have to have a bit of patience.

They did stream last yr, and I thought it was great. I understand they have them by the balls, but as people are cutting cords, the viewing is down. I believe all Sat/Cable companies were down customers after the last quarter. Not to mention the way the NFL is acting now with the power trip, the average fan is turning away and just watching him team now. I would have overpaid yrs ago to have Sunday ticket, now....I don't even have Sat/Cable.

I heard that the NFL was considering a Pay Per View that would allow people to watch games on phones, tablets, Kindles and Ipads by downloading a special NFL App. Right now I have NFL Sunday Ticket and I can watch local broadcasts of the Patriots or the Ticket on my TV, IPhone or IPad. I'm not sure how PPV would affect package like Sunday Ticket or Red Zone.

I got the whole Sunday Ticket, Red Zone, Fantasy Football package for $180. ($30x6)

Nice night for football as the Patriots host the Bears in preseason action (8 p.m. ET). QB Tom Brady is expected to get the start. Shadows over the field at this hour.

In a pre-game radio interview on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Bill Belichick said all three of the team's quarterbacks would play. But as warmups are taking place, Tom Brady is not on the field, leaving only Jimmy Garoppolo (10) and Jacoby Brissett (7).

Belichick announced before the game that Brady will not dress for this game. JG has to start and the team has to understand that this is his team to start the season.

Pats went down 11-0 early. Brandon Bolden fumbled on the 1 and he hasn't been back since.

Gostkowski kicked a FG. Blount scored a TD after and INT by Cyrus Jones. 2 point conversion failed.
JG hit AJ Derby with a YD pass and Hogan caught the 2 point conversion 17-11 Patriots at the half.

Defense got off to a horrible slow start but has really turned on the juice since the middle of the first quarter.

Second half....Pats get the kick-off.

JG is looking better. Seems more relaxed now that he has a TD. 3-3 Pats are on the 49.

Holding call on Hogan just negated a 26 yard pass.

1st and 20 on the CHI 41.

JG to Hogan for a first down on the 17

Blount for 5 yards to the 12

Blount for 1. Tried to make a cut rather than take it straight

3rd and 4. JG makes a hurried throw that got swatted.

4th down and Gostkowski kicks a 29 yard FG

20-11 Patriots

Bears go 3 and out. Hoyer completes one for 2 yards and then Daryl Roberts knocks down two in a row.

Pats start 1st and 10 from their own 39.

Run by Gaffney for 4

Incomplete pass

3rd and 4 ................ JB sacked on the 34

Pats punt. Special teams do a great job. Returner takes the punt on the 20, reverses his field and gets tackled on the 16.

Pats defense totally broke down. Hoyer completed a 55 pass across the middle to the TE. For the past 3 years that same play has been the Pats Achilles. 1st and goal on the 6.

Run for 3

Run for 1

Hoyer nearly sacked

4th and Goal from the 2...................Time Out Chicago

They go for it.........Incomplete pass to the back of the end zone. Great defense in the Red Zone.

Pats take over on their own 2.

Break for a couple hundred commercials

1st and 10 on the Patriots 2 yard line. Brissett gets a chance to really show if he's an NFL QB or needs a couple of years behind Brady and JG........

False Start........1st and 11 from the 1.

Pass caught out of bounds by Lucien

2nd - 11.... Time Out New England

Run stopped at the line of scrimmage

3rd - 11 Pass out of bounds again to Lucien

Brissett looked horrible.

3rd and 8 at the 23 and the Pats knock it down.

36 yd FG by Gould

23-14 Patriots
