Preseason Game 2: Bengals @ Falcons

A few thoughts on the first defensive series:

The run defense looks stout. The pressure was good, but could probably do a better job of staying in their lanes, to keep the QB contained (watching online, so no DVR, can't say for sure if it was a lane issue). No long passes with the exception of Ryan getting out of the pocket...could have been by design by Atlanta.

Can't allow teams to complete passes on every down. Have to break some passes up and do a better job defending the short passes.

They need the real refs back. That phantom facemask call was embarassing.

They're pinching pennies. $100,000 per team over the course of the season will have them back.

Doesn't it also have something to do with the NFL wanting them to work year round instead of just during the season? That sounds like a good idea by the leauge imo.

I thought it was that they wanted to add 3 more crews (of 8) which would eat into the pool the other refs get paid from. However, if you're right, then that's pretty ridiculous on the refs part.

In any case, they need to get this settled. Unfortunately, at this point there are no serious talks. The league is playing hardball expecting the refs to cave a couple weeks into the season. It's pretty unbelievable.

I think Julio Jones is going to be the second best WR in fantasy this yr after Calvin Johnson.. seems primed for a huge season

Hate to say it but Roddy White owns Leon Hall. I'm not worried about the O-line. Zeitler I think is still getting his legs under him. Boling should be okay. I keep thinking I'm looking at Willie Anderson when I see Smith. Whit is solid. All in all a good O-line.

Ryan is playing a lot of snaps for the 2nd preseason game

I think the offense has shown enough to sit Dalton and Green the rest of the half.

The run blocking is just as horrible as last year. But it did not help that Lenard kept running into the back of his blockers and running right into the arms of people.

If the offensive line doesn't get the run blocking worked out or it will be a long season.

Have u seen the schedule? It's gonna be an ugly season. We haven't had back to back winning seasons since before some of you were born. This season will be no different.

You all thought I was crazy for saying 8-8 was going to be a good year for us. I am sticking by that. Our D isn't nearly as good as it was made to look last year, and with the quarterbacks on our schedule, we're going to get shredded in the secondary

A fast start to the season is going to be a MUST with the way the schedule shapes up after the first 5 or so games.
