It's definitely not their best team, but the AFC is very flawed.... The best team over the back half of the season was probably KC. And they're coached by Andy Reid and quarterbacked by Alex Smith. No thanks.

And they played a shitty, shitty schedule.

The crappier the weather, the better for the Bengals...seems like lately the weather has favored the Bengals when facing tough QB's or big games: NE, Brady Monsoon and then last year Denver, Manning, and the rain storm...another full day of rain and wind against a usually passing offense, with no running game to speak of...

Again, the lower the scoring, the better the chances for the Bengals.

How would the rain help the bengals? Have you seen their running game lately?

If it rains, Hue will throw it 50 times. Watch.

It if slows down pits passing offense, it helps.

I agree the run game isn't what you'd like it to be, but Hill has done better recently and you can only hope it will continue to improve. The steelers D isn't all that great.

But, the big impact of the rain and win is more to slow, negate, a high powered passing offense. If the game is something like 10-7, you can make any case for the Bengals getting 1 lucky play for a TD and a FG. It's a lot hard to make any case for AJM to keep up with Ben R if he's putting up 400 yards and 4 TD's on the defense.

The overall impact is greater on Pitt's offense than it is the Bengals offense.

Except Nugent can't make field goals on a clear day, let alone a rainy windy day

Nugent is going to step up.... He'll be 2-2 on the night and both field goals will be in the 40 yard range. Hobs will write several articles about the Bengals faith in their kicker, faith in coaches, continuity, etc..... He'll be our kicker again next season. And he'll suck next season.

I suppose we should just be happy that he's better than early-career Neil Rackers.

The article will be titled "Kicking out the Ghosts"

Man, our kicking game used to be special as hell didn't it? With Rackers and Dorsch. Man those were the good old days.

Yeah..... Good news, Boomer Esiason and TJ Housyourmama both like the Bengals this week. Those are two guys that don't talk a lot, so we should probably listen when they have something to say.

Not really. They were right about average for SOS in the league. Most SOS rankings have them around 15.

The naysayer would say that their three wins over playoff teams came against back-ups, bums, or a senior citizen with a busted foot..... Hoyer/Mallet, Landry Jones, Gimpy Manning.

On the other hand, we couldn't beat Hoyer the last two times we played him so I can't say anything!

Fair point. I don't have the most faith in them, but they were a pretty good team this season. I'm hoping for KC and Cincy wins. Both teams are far overdue.

The truth of the matter is that there isn't a great team in the AFC this year so it's hard to doubt any of the teams (except maybe Houston - I just can't see them winning 3).
