Prediction Thread: GAME 3 @ Maryland

Well, here we go again. The Maryland game. I always felt this is the game that told us where the season was going to go. They come in 2-0 with an FCS blowout and a road win @ South Florida. Considering its September that's a fairly impressive win, as South Florida usually play well in September.

This will be a defensive affair for three quarters, but I believe we break out late and pull off a win against the Big 10.

The defense proves it's for real and the offense has another big day! The Terps get some yards, but the defense takes the ball away when it matters. Trickett goes untouched all day and is able to throw at will.

Our history with Maryland has 50 games spanning 95 years.
Series is very tight at 26-22-2 with WVU having a 4 game lead.
WVU won the 1st 2 and the next 2 were ties.
MD won 7 of the next 8 through 1966.
From '69 to '83 - WVU won 7 of 9.
MD had 4 straight from '84 to '87.
MD had 4 straight from '01 to '04 (2 were 2003 season including Gator loss).
From '94 thru '04 - MD won 7 of 11 contests.
From 2004 season on, WVU won 7 straight until last seasons embarressment.

WVU is 13-11 at College Park, 13 - 10 in Morgantown and 0-3 on Neutral.

The best part about UMD and RU joining the B11 is that our horrible record against that league gets a shot in the arm. We are now a much more respectable 74-94-6 against the B11, where we were 15-68-2 prior ( mostly PSU 9-48-2) We get another win against them Saturday, 31-21

On CBS we are ranked #70, Maryland #44. If we win this one, we'll be on the "radar" so to speak. Right now, we really need that. I actually see this game as a possible make-or-break game.
