DJAX gets his first TD

The fans start talkin' smack and SB again, before getting stomped on in week 3.

It is too bad we don't play those pillaging murderers on boats with eye patches.
Although we do play the pillaging murderous norwegian rapists in week 9.
The guys wearing red face paint had the kick their asses out of this continent.

Wow. Now THIS is the game I want to see! :yahoo::suds: HTTR

Me to. And I'm not one to usually wear burgundy n gold rose colored glasses, but I got a feeling.

Course I also had a feeling that when Joe Gibbs first came back. He was gonna lead the Skins to SB glory within 3-5 years during his second tenure so...........................

And howdy Raid, my brother from another mother.

really dude??? IM not being a hater but i will simply ask you this... when was the last time this team went into the the half time break with a 14 point lead that the offense generated?? And if the Jags score 21 unanswered points, would you considered that a defensive collapse, or the entire team just said fork it, we are done??

Look Im hoping for the win. Im actually hoping to see the QB you all think Griffin is actually on the field.

But the odds also say that over the past 17 games, this offense has been rather slow to start in most cases. Usually it has taken until late in the 2nd quarter and some times deep into the second half before this offense gets rolling.

Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys - Play By Play - November 22, 2012 - ESPN

First game that came to mind was the 2012 Turkey Day 38-31 win against the Boys in Cowboys Stadium. The Skins led 28-3 at halftime. After starting out 2/5 for 23 yards and an intentional grounding penalty for 0 points on their first 2 drives to open up the game. Griff started spittin hot fire to the tune of 9/9 for 184 yards and 3 TDs on their next 4 drives along with a TD by Alf to finish the 1st half 28-3 Redskins.

Now the Skins D did play pretty significantly into a couple scores as Josh Wilson forced and recovered a Dez Bryant fumble to start the Skins 2nd TD drive at the Dallas 49. And DHall picked a Romo pass at the Skins 40 returning it to the Boys 33 yards line setting up the Skins 4th TD. There was only 30 seconds left in the half though and the Skins offense actually worked their timeouts like a fat man workin the last biscuit at the dinner table for a change. Taking only 25 seconds to score in 4 plays. Of the 4 TDs, one was a picture perfect 68 yard bomb to Aldrick. A great 6 yard back shoulder pass to a well covered Moss that only Santana could catch, and an outstanding 180 degree twisting catch by PG (that Griff said he purposely threw to the spot he did) for a 58 yard catch and run TD.

Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys - Recap - November 22, 2012 - ESPN
"As Pierre is running on his long touchdown, and I was like, 'Man, that was a great catch,' " Griffin said. "I had to throw it to only that spot, and you don't see many guys make catches like that."

Given the forced TOs by the defense. I dunno if you consider this game a game in which the offense generated a 14 point halftime lead and that's cool. That first half for damn sure worked for me though.

And to be fair to this particular Skins offense. There's a new HC and a new scheme. With a fully healthy QB for the first time in over a year and 3 starters (I'm including Roberts) that weren't here last year. They've really only had 1 opportunity to generate a 14 point halftime lead.

It is interesting that very few are talking about this team in terms of futility. The current losing streak is at nine, a loss tomorrow and it's a double digit slide. I know that some will attempt to separate this season from the last (different HC etc.) but the statistical record won't reflect that. Maybe, just maybe, the game against the Jags will fire this team in a manner that breaks this fall into irrelevance, what we do know is that someday they will win one. The question that has lingered for far too long is...........WHEN?

Breed... I take it you are another defender. And thats cool to each his own. But I will simply point out that this offense actually according to most reports is NOT all that different from what they were trying to do last year which IS different from the offense of 2012. So my point stands, its very rare that we go into the half with a 14 point lead of any kind much less one generated by the offense. Once again I will point out that if the guy who did start wasnt healthy last year he shouldnt have started. But he swore he was healthy, and did every thing he could to paint the coach into a corner of starting him week one. Now thats water under the bridge. But my original statement stands in that nothing we have seen from him or our new offense or last years offense remotely suggests this team will go into the half with a 14 or more point lead tomorrow.

Being a new guy I'm trying to be rational, low-key, etc. I'm very frustrated by the futility of the Skins. And the constant regime changes isn't an excuse in my eyes, its one of the real problems with this team.

The biggest issue with the Skins in my mind is the extremes of the changes yet the problem still remains the same. One man is given, takes or simply has too power. 2000 it was Snyder. 2001 it was Marty than Snyder wanted back in the mix, Marty balked and he was gone. 2002-03 it was Spurrier till Snyder himself realized Spurrier was idiot than it was Snyder again. 2004-07 Gibbs. 2008-09 Snyder again. 2010-13 Shanny. In is some fashion or another all these men when they were running things treated the Skins as some type of real life fantasy football team.

I'm not big on Bruce Allen as GM and Snyder is a terrible owner. I'm hopeful though that with Gruden in the mix we finally have more than a single terrible voice calling all the shots. Whether it works on not remains to be seen.

Defender? Of what? Griff? The constant change? The habitualness of regime after regime making high risk, low reward multiple pieces for one piece trade after trade? The Skins shitty overall record since Gibbs first left back in 1992? The ability to look to be on the right track one year, 2005, 2007, 2012, only to cannonball off the high dive right back into the toilet the next?

My bad, maybe I misread you and if so. Sorry about that. I have just gotten used to alot of excuses being made for certain aspects of the team and I wasnt sure if by throwing out the Boys game of 2012, you were actually supporting the notion that this team is primed to dominate the Jags defense in the first half tomorrow.

I do think this is the most talented team we have had here in a long time, but for all the talent we have on offense, I still think we are going to see alot of the same issues as last year as far as production lacking until late in games.

To me....winning and losing starts at the top, there is a philosophy that is accepted then incorporated throughout the organization. With that let's ask the question:

WHAT DOES WASHINGTON FOOTBALL LOOK LIKE?

Like a stock Honda civic with an after market muffler. Looks pretty and makes alot of noise, until the light turns green. Then it still looks pretty and makes alot of noise, but doesnt go anywhere real fast.

So it's just marketing huh? move the product, insure the bottom line type thing? Thought the guy was a lifelong fan of this team? Any chance that with his penchant to issue letters and statements to the fans (latest is about his support for Goodell) there'll soon come one that offers an apology and a clear definition of what his philosophy going forward will be?

No worries. Truth be told. I'm scared that the Skins will look good, real good by my prediction eh, Sunday. And could very well squander the possibility to build on it the following week as they go back to looking inept, crappy etc.

The ability to maintain consistency, a positive, in the right direction consistency, could and should be something I added to my list in the talent thread that was just started.
