Nebraska had 42 rushing attempts for 128 yds. That's only 3 YPC.

I don't get where everyone is saying the rushing game was working? Maybe it did early, but UCLA stacked the box and took away what very little Taylor does well passing.

Like I said, I don't want to be a Beck apologist, but I'm not ready to go there knowing Taylor's limitations.

That number is greatly skewed by the fact that Taylor had 10 carries for -13 yards.

Abdullah and Newby were both at 4.5 yards a carry and Imani was a little over 6 ypc.

Imani ran for 5, 6, and 8 yards on his 3 carries that he got. In each one of those runs he gained extra yards after contact againnst UCLA's wet tissue Front 7.

But then we got pass happy........we put the ball in Taylor's hands and told him to win it somehow. That made no sense to me. Just keep running and ripping off 4-5 yards a carry and stick to the short passing game. It was working just fine until Beck felt the need to try and score quickly to regain momentum.

That's my point. Taylor is not a true threat to run. How long you think NU gets 5,6, 8 ypc when you only have to key on the RB.
That short passing game is easy to take away too. Hence all of Taylors pick 6's. A good DC knows he doesn't have to cover the whole field against Taylor because he can't make all the throws and doesn't have the mental aptitude to beat you.

Unless there are 6 ft wide running lanes for him, Taylor is a square peg in this offense. He's not a true dual threat QB. He's a track and field guy.

It sucks that the fans have more heart and passion than the players and staff.
