I remember reading in Larry Robinson's book about the exploits of Peter Mahovlich in Detroit one night. Scotty Bowman set the curfew at 11:00 pm and Mahovlich came into the hotel a little after 1:00 am.

Bowman - All right Mahovlich, you're two hours late, that'll cost you $200

Mahovlich reaches into his wallet, pulls out $200, hands it to Bowman, than reaches back into his wallet and pulls out another $400 and says, "Here Scotty, this way you can get some sleep tomorrow night"

Agree that's what he should say, still will not put him back on the ice. Respecting (or not) the decision either way he doesn't have a choice they suspended him, that was my point. Sorry should have been clearer.
