These guys make good money.
The New England Patriots have elevated the salaries of four practice-squad players, boosting the weekly pay of defensive end Jake Bequette, wide receiver Josh Boyce, offensive lineman Chris Barker and defensive tackle Joe Vellano to $10,000 per week. Practice squad players have a customary weekly salary of $6,300, though teams have license to pay more than those practice-squad salaries.
The elevated pay can be interpreted as a reward for strong contributions by these four for their work in practice and helping the team to prepare for each week. Each of these players have spent significant time on the Patriots' 53-man roster, and Bequette and Boyce are both former draft picks of the team (Bequette, third round in 2012; Boyce, fourth round in 2013).
