I don’t look for him to quit. After he lost his wife this may be all that keeps him going and makes him happy.

Could be another George Allen who once said that if he stopped coaching, he'd probably die.

He coached his last game on November 17, 1990 and died December 31, 1990.

Sure, but there's only so much of time you can spend with them. The kids and grandkids have their own lives, jobs, school, etc.

Wife is there pretty much every day. Without her, his job is there every day.

My regret is not that he can't coach the Spurs again, but that the doctors no longer allow him to have his favorite glass of red wine.

Would have assumed it happened the 6th if they didn’t give the date.

Hope he makes a full recovery. And retires.
His stroke happened before the election.

And if it happened as a result of anxiety it was justified because Trump is a piece of shit...

Spurs say Gregg Popovich suffered stroke in early November, Hall of Fame coach expected to make full recovery

I love Pop as a coach, but it is time to step aside. His health is far too important.
Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
Definitely time -In my opinion-At his age, he probably needs to slow down and let someone else take the helm.

One of the best of all time and in my opinion a better coach then Phil Jackson - I wish him the best and his family as well

That being said - Strokes are not preventable, so if it was a small stroke and only minor damage - chances are pretty good he could continue if that is really his passion - Some people don't know how to retire

Wrong forum to whine about that in.

Be brave, go to the PF.
Agreed- Stroke happen for a variety of reasons - If anything, the stroke is the result of how he eats, takes care of himself and visits the doctor on a regular basis. The stress that comes with the NBA could be part of it - but from my observation - He doesn't stress if you as a player don't do what you're told - He sits your sorry ass down on the bench - and the game continues - I have always loved his disciplined

With that said - A full medical examination, medication and diet and hopefully he makes a full recovery and does whatever makes him happy.

Besides that - I am under the impression that the only reason you really want to spend time with the grandkids is to spoil them and send them home to the parents as a form of revenge -lol

Nah. You want to spend time with them and spoil them because you love them and that is your role now...you already raised your kids.

Getting to send them back to their parents on sugar highs and spoiled is just an added bonus. :heh:

I did a small research and the article I read claimed that Popovich had the stroke on 11-2-2024 and it was kept low profile with a Popovich had a small health issue to attend to. He has already started a rehabilitation program and is expected to make a full recovery. Based on what I went through with my mother over the years - I am estimating that full recovery will be four to six weeks - The normal gauge is three days of rehab for every day in the hospital

The good news is that strokes are easily prevented now with medicine and proper care - It sounds promising
