All that money thrown around and still no ring in how many years now? :pound::pound:

Baseball Gods prevail. Couldn't have happened to a bigger bunch of classless asswipes!

The 100mil more than the Tigers spent did buy them one more win. You can't take that away.

Some good games tonight. Matt Adams going yard off Kershaw was huge, as was the wild pitch that allowed SF to advance.

once again...proven that no matter how much you spend it guarantees nothing. but I'd expect the Yankees and Dodgers to be first in line at the FA table.

and Now they lose Josh Beckett

Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett announced his retirement after the Dodgers were eliminated from the playoffs Tuesday night, MLB.com reports.

Beckett, who last pitched on Aug. 3, had his final season end prematurely due to a torn labrum in his hip. "I just don't see me going through that rehab and coming back to pitch at this point in my life," he said.

Beckett delivered a 2.88 ERA and 107:39 K:BB ratio in 115 2/3 innings during his final season. He ends his career with a 138-106 record, 3.88 ERA and 1,901 strikeouts in 2,051 innings. He was named the MVP of the 2003 World Series while pitching for the Marlins and was part of two World Series titles with the 2003 Marlins and 2007 Red Sox.

Hard to believe Beckett's only 34. He had a damn good career and was, at times, easily one of the most exciting pitchers I've ever watched. He had some great years, but I thought he could have had a truly dominant year or two. Even in his most dominant years ('07, '11), he didn't really have all that many innings.

Despite the inconsistency, I appreciate what he did for the Sox (especially '07).

Well, we can find solace in the fact that we don't live in Arizona.

Don't tell people Arizona is a great state to live in AZDB, we don't want any Cali douches moving here! Let them think it's a desert wasteland. :pound:
