Cowboys.com Bryan Broaddus expects LCB Brandon Carr to stay in Dallas.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in early March that Carr would be released, but the move never happened. Despite consistently sub-par play, Carr has had nine lives in Big D. Carr is owed a $9.1 million base salary in 2016.

Please, please, please don't let this be true!

There probably just seeing how the off season plays out. If he's released post June 1 the remaining bonus if any gets spread out over two years.

Has to be a cap casualty right? They need to cut him to add $, and he's stunk. Not sure myself? Seems we could find better options for cheaper or take a chance at drafting an option that doesnt suck? Guess if nothing pans out he stays? I doubt it seriously, but like you say, he may be around until June 1

Maybe we are hanging on to him so all the top CB's are gone. Then we can pressure him again to take a cut or get less from another team. Then if we cut him, he's pretty much destined to make a lot less money.

If the Cowboys don't sign Weddle (I think he is a Raider), the pickings are getting pretty slim in FA. I'd expect them to hold on to him till after the draft and see if they add a player or two

This has been a big topic with Broaddus on Twitter. He has stated at times it's not really based on anything and he isn't in anyway saying it's for sure. A couple times he said things like 'they haven't made up their minds', etc. It's more that he has been called on it so many times that he seems to now be sticking his heels in the dirt and also that for some reason Rotoworld decided to post this particular tweet. I still say he is cut or the Cowboys are flat out idiots. That money can be used better elsewhere

I think they are waiting a little too. Maybe even trying to get him to take a pay cut.
But, they can cut him today and designate him post 6/1 if they want.

I considered that, but why cut him now if you don't have too and the need for DBs is there with or without him.

Why do many teams do it each year? I guess to allow the player to get a fair shot at a deal with a new team? Or to make sure there are plenty of practice reps for the guys you are actually going to keep? Or if you need the savings to give to a different player to stay under the cap? Or maybe to let a different CB that you may be courting know that there is a spot for him if he comes here? I guess there are a lot of possible reasons. My favorite is just "shit or get off the pot"...

All good reasons, I think the reason here is Carr may be needed. If they can sign one more DB in FS and draft one early Carr is gone, if only only one of these occur Carr stays. Maybe at a reduced salary.

I agree that the team may be looking at keeping Carr as an option. To me it was dumb last year and is even dumber this year. But that doesn't mean we won't do it.

Any idea if the 'Boys go after Ramsey or Bosa? I think this is where the draft really kind of shakes things up a bit imo. It seems like most of the writers have Bosa tagged to the Cowboys, but I wonder if Ramsey is the better way to go?

I think Ramsey would be the top guy, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Buckner over Bosa. The wildcard to me is Wentz, if he doesn't go to Cleveland as expected, I think we take him

I agree. Dallas is in such a great position at 4. Heck, I would even listen to offers and trade 4 and move back a few spots and possibly grab Zeke and get a CB in 2nd round possibly?

Trading back would be great IMO. Select is projected to go 8th or so. I think a possible trade partner could be SF at 6 if they want Goff. Dallas could still land a DE, or Hargraves, Jack or Elliott. It does set up well

Yup.. I'm jelly. Chip screwed us and he can possibly do it again by sending a masive amount of picks to you to get to 4. :L

I still don't get why everyone readily assumes Wentz over Goff. I think Goff goes first and I don't even think it's close between the two...

I am having doubts about Bosa at #4. His pro day was not that good. I am concerned about his speed. Can't have another B.C. part 2 suckeye. Buckner seems more intriguing.
