I wouldn't mind that too much. Those are the two teams I'm rooting for.fify
Indians-Cubs would be awesome. Sox-Cubs would still be fun, but not nearly as much as it would have been in 2003/04. There'd still be a lot of star power and you have the prospect of Theotrying to snap the longest WS drought against a franchise whose drought he helped erase.
It would be nice to see Beltre and Kershaw get rings.
So, to recap...so far we have:
Homer pick
Homer Pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
Reasonable fan pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
Homer pick
i'm the reasonable fan right?
Eh, I don't see it.If the Cubs lose in the NLDS that entire city will be on suicide watch
Eh, I don't see it.
I bet most Cubs fans think they'll be relevant for awhile
They might have thought that back in 2003, too.
If ever there was a team for whom there is no "next year," it's the Cubs.
The more I think about it, I'm actually hoping they pound the ever-loving stuffing out of everyone on the way to a WS sweep.
I'm pretty indifferent on this Cubs team winning it all after the Royals uprising happened. Lots of regional benefits to having everyone following baseball religiously from Chicago to KC. Since STL is officially an MLB town it makes sense to want MLB as big as possible in the area. They might have thought that back in 2003, too.

The team I actually don't want winning it all is the Dodgers who rolled over for the Giants. Also pretty salty about LA having the Rams. I figure picking them puts some sort of voodoo curse on them but they have as good as shot as anybody.
AL Wildcard
Jays over O's
NL Wildcard
Mets over Giants
ALDS
Rangers over Blue Jays in 4
Red Sox over Indians in 5
NLDS
Cubs over Mets in 6
Dodgers over Nats in 5
LCS
Rangers over Red Sox in 7
Dodgers over Cubs in 7
World Series
Dodgers over Rangers in 6
I think the Dodgers are the team thats 'due' and not the Cubs or anyone else but maybe thats just because I'm looking at roster construction and recent history. They check all of the boxes for a championship looking team except I think they struggle against lefties IIRC.Wow, a Cardinal fan picking the Dodgers.
Edit: Knew it. Apparently that post was Clayton's attempt at a voodoo curse.
