The concept is great, just have to get all 5 conference champs in it to legitimize the championship.
I enjoyed the games though, both were entertaining in their own way.

I'm a little surprised that the free shoes- Oregon game got higher ratings, I figured that with OSU-Bama being the bigger names, and it being a better game that it would get the better TV...

Me too. Rose Bowl always has good ratings, and maybe late start to Sugar affected theirs.

The Sugar Bowl was the most watched event in cable TV history. Can ESPN top itself with the national title game? nyti.ms/1BfBpdx

It was too late at night. Oregon/FSU ran over and those of us that have to work early had to get to bed.

I hope the league and university bosses are finally getting it, there is MUCH more money to be made from a real playoff than the bsc model. I think you'd not see quite as many asses in the stands, but many more in front of their tvs. I hope they go to eight teams next year, then to 16 soon.

I cant imagine a scenario where we would ever see a 16 team playoff but I think 8 is coming on a rail.....well, at least in CFB terms. I don't think we will see it next season but I do think we will before the current contract for 4 teams is up.

I think 8 is the magic number. One each from the power 5, one from the other 5, and 2 at large.

If the playoff had not been here this year the SEC would have another championship right now, it would have been Bama-FLST in the championship. I believe we have seen the end of the SEC run on the championship, now that the BCS joke is over. Yes they will still win some, but will not have the run they enjoyed in the BCS era.

We have talked about a playoff at work a slew of times, all the Ohio state fans there are dead set against any playoff(they like this four team bsc though) they are to short sighted to know that more than likely they would have probably won at least two titles with those great Cooper teams that stumbled against Michigan had there been a playoff. Eight is at least doable, four doesn't insure including the best team.

Where is that Bamer fan 4down?

The semifinal games had a higher TV rating than the NFL playoff on ESPN. The highest rated cable show of all time.

I would like him to remind us how the college football fan has nothing to do with change.
