Over the last four seasons:

Player A:

Season 1: 39 goals, 52 assists
Season 2: 34 goals, 37 assists
Season 3: 29 goals, 28 assists
Season 4: 15 goals, 35 assists

Player B:

Season 1: 20 goals, 26 assists
Season 2: 14 goals, 22 assists
Season 3: 14 goals, 32 assists
Season 4: 19 goals, 34 assists

Both of these players were signed over the past two days, would you be surprised that Player B was signed for more money than Player A (and for one more year)

Considering A is Jokinen and B is Lombardi, no.

No matter how you spin it, Jokinen was not a good signing.

:-)

I'm not saying it's a good signing, but I read all the immediate media reports that Lombardi is a great signing and it makes me go okay, but 3.5 million for three seasons for 20 goals and 45-50 points?!? Really?

Personally, if the name isn't Jokinen, it's looked at differently...

Darryl Sutter is probably trying to go out like when Costanza was trying to get fired from the Yankees.

A hilarious episode...My favourite part was the dragging of the trophy in the parking lot.

I like the one where George is entertaining the execs from the Houston Astros..."You Goddamn sons of bitches!"....
