As a quick side project, I want to look at QS% vs. average PQS "APQS"
QS: 6+ IP; 3 or less ER
QS% is QS/Starts
PQS: each start is rated 0-5 as follows
1 point for 6+ IP
1 point for total hits less than or equal to IP
1 point for IP - K less than two
1 point for K/BB greater than or equal to 2.0
1 point for no more than 1 HR
0 points automatically for starts less than 5 IP
APQS: cumulative PQS/Starts
QS% was my pet stat for 2010, APQS is my pet stat this year. Through two turns:
Tim 100 QS%; 4.5 APQS
Chez 0 QS%; 3.5 APQS
Cain 100 QS%; 4.0 APQS
Z 50 QS%; 3.0 APQS
Bum 0 QS%; 1.0 APQS
3.0 APQS is generally considered solid pitching; QS% generally breaks down at these levels:
72+ ace
63 #2
56 #3
42 #4
I don't have a feel yet for APQS; it will be interesting to track it throughout the year.
