Presley getting on is a big deal.

Let's get some magic. Have any, Nate?

He throws strikes right on the knees on like 80% of his pitches.

That's a tough error for Alvarez. The throw was in the dirt, but that's an easy hop for a Major League first baseman. Jones has to have that ball.

And I think Gordon beat it out anyway.

If Walker doesn't drop that ball, Gordon's out at second. I'm not sure how he even managed to drop it. It was right in the middle of his glove.

Can't blame everything on bad luck. Pirates look like bad news bears. They look like the bungles.

Good outing for Hughes.

He's a big man.

Middle of the order. That's reason for hope at least.

A couple gaffes on the defensive end, but those haven't cost them. And I'm giving that error on the Gordon ball to Jones. Or just giving Gordon a hit, since it looked to me like he was at the bag before the ball was at Jones's glove.

Offensively, they've had, what, six outs on line drives? Six hits otherwise, too. But they aren't stringing them together, so even with a home run and a double, they've only got one run.

I don't think McCutchen got all of that one.

Walker cannot buy a hit this season. Probably should have gone with that pitch a little better and taken it to right center.

Well at least we've got a better pitching matchup tomorrow. First time this year that we'll have an advantage.

I will say this: The Dodger defense is very fast. They cover a lot of ground out there very quickly.

That probably has a lot to do with their starting pitchers' consistent success.

And their bullpen is nasty.

Jones looked silly in that at bat.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Hague started every day at first base soon.

I'd like to see that too, but it's gonna be tough to do from Indianapolis. If not Hague, whom do you see being shipped out when Morton comes off the DL on Saturday? Almost HAS to be a position player (with a pitcher to follow Hague to AAA when Burnett returns).

BTW, Burnett had a rough outing at class A Bradenton yesterday. He pitched a clean first inning, but gave up 8 runs in the 2nd inning before being lifted with 2 outs.

i would give hague a chance to play 3/4 of the time and see what he has. i would send navarro down as he still needs to work on his game as a young guy with some potential and needs to play everyday. harrison can back both infielders up. if we get an injury, we call bring darnaud, mercer, or navarro up. give jones some ABs in the outfield.
i like hague, jones, mcgehee off the bench in late innings depending on the reliever. looks like mcgehee might be regaining his prior skills.
who is a better 3B defensively, mcgehee or pedro. i rarely get to see either unless it is a highlight.

I would personally like to see them send Alvarez down when AJ is ready to return, but we all know that isn't going to happen. Like the above post said, it will probably be Navarro that draws the short straw, and he goes west to Indy.

Sounds like AJ got lit up last nite for the Marauders... still might need to shake some rust off before he's ready to be brought up

Looking over the stats sheet and I was not surprised to see the Bucs have drawn exactly five walks over their first five games. That's just not good enough, especially when they've struck out thirty-eight times :tsk:
