Very likely that dirty dusty has his SP hit one of our first batters tonight.. that way the ump will warn both benches and once again Hurdle's Bucs won't have an opportunity to retaliate.

I can't think of one current MLB manager that I detest more than Baker. I want him to choke on that toothpick

Most likely, he's a sneaky prick like that.

He throws at people's heads, he's a jackass.

Chapman is old-school. He throws up and tight and gets control of the plate.
He's also wild. I would guess he learned his baseball from some tough fuckers in Cuba.

Hell, he even decked Todd Frazier in a spring game.

I am also reminded by the vast hordes of people who never saw him pitch, salivating at the feet of Bob Gibson, always admiring HIM for his willingness to back people off the plate. When Gibson did it, we all get giddy about the "good old days of baseball."

Then when some new guy does it, we quiver at the knees. I don't need to remind you of the beanball derby between the Parrots and Cardinals on April 26. I am sure you committed that to memory and agree that those pitches were just the result of a "tired arm."

In case you forgot:

Um....yea. The Pirates got screwed that game, Sanchez hits a guy and gets tossed in the first, then Marte gets hits twice by Lynn, and nothing happens. I have no idea what your point is, but thanks for reminding me how stupid Tim Timmons is.

Well, my point is ... Sanchez hit a guy. Darn, I hate when other teams do this.

The umpire did what the rules state. Throw the guy out and issue the warning.

Later on, they showed Lynn being buzzed twice. I guess that part was too painful to watch.
Anyhow, I don't much care who gets thrown out or warned. What continues to piss me off is that assertion that people think Brandon Phillips ought to be beaned to make up for it.

The racism from Pittsburgh that followed that around since last year is appalling. And when Phillips pointed it out ... whoa, they all start whining. Phillips follows social media and I followed it too.

The Pittsburgh beat reporter even wrote that Phillips ought to be hit. Funny part was, Phillips didn't even play one game in the four-game series. But the scribe dredged up a reason to promote a little hatred against the Reds "colored guy."

I wrote to the guy and wondered why he hadn't bothered to get a comment from the Cincinnati organization. As could be the most inept newspaper reporting I've seen, he didn't even attempt to ask the Reds about it. Just wanted the Pirates to throw at Phillips the next chance they got. Basically a blogger asshole homer scribe with no credibility.

Phillips was out the series with a hammy pull. Those games are on video.

I can backtrack on this bullshit if you want, so any other excuses for "throwing at" people is really off the charts. I don't care if Leake hit Cutch on purpose or not. Evidently Cutch and the ump didn't think so. The game went on and no warnings were issued.

I really just think it's about needing a reason to support a franchise that is at best going to finish .500 again this season.

Yea, and in the same game Lance Lynn hit Marte twice, and didn't get thrown out, so....

Nah, Brandon Phillips takes joy in being hit, if they are going to do it Bruce or Votto needs to wear it, or possibly Latos.

Not the Leake thing, it's Chapman, he is 'wild' yet he is only wild up and in with the fastball, and a 3 run lead.

Actually that specific writer, Colin Dunlap, thinks Phillips is a jerk for crying racism against Jared Hughes with no evidence last year. I have no idea what you are referring to about 'getting a comment from the Reds' but are you suggesting they had some sort of explanation if he would have just picked up the phone. And if they did, are you also suggesting no other writer asked them about it, and their take on the situation wasn't already known?

But the scribe dredged up a reason to promote a little hatred against the Reds "colored guy."

I don't know you, but I hope you are better than this comment. This is pure garbage race baiting, and I hope sportshoopla doesn't support these type of comments.

We dfaed him, its your turn now.

Using your logic it was obviously a race based intentional hbp.

stay classy, and fwiw we can start hitting Votto if it makes you feel better.

No, what this does is prove racism is the motivation for the Pirates fans vitriol.
Hitting the black guy was all right until somebody asked about it. Well, I guess hitting the white guy gets you off the hook, huh? Hmmm ... yeah, that's fairly racist.

The team isn't the issue here. It's the fans.

And yeah, a beat writer who is covering a team and proposes throwing at Brandon Phillips ... that is bush-league. I wrote to their editor and said that real journalists get a comment, even if it's predictable. You cover the game, you don't incite incidents. Just ask the manager about it. Get a comment.

Again, the writer said Phillips was the guy the Pirates needed to hit and Phillips had not even played the entire series. Why throw at a guy who didn't even play? He was out with a hammy pull.

That one still smells like racism.

Honestly, I don't think anybody ought to throw at anyone and I wish we could have a series of ballgames that didn't include stupid fans and stupid homer bloggers.

And for what this is worth, I have no idea if Chapman is throwing at people. He does not confide in me. He's young and wild. He was taught to play ball in Cuba under some tough guys. His agenda isn't part of my daily life.

But since "we" are in charge of all this, I hope "you" have a nice day.

Pirates fans are being racist, or at least this one is, because Charlie just lit up the Asian guy and I liked it.
