After the first practice it is the status quo: Hamilton, Rosberg, and a new third man Button. After Practice two, it is: Hamilton, Rosberg, Alonso, with Ricciardo in fourth. I wish I had the time and money to go. I'd love to see this one in person.

Interesting P2 though.

.003 seconds faster for Lewis only and he did it again well onto his set of tires, not on the first hot lap.

Lewis is now the winningest British driver ever.

Which is absolutely amazing when you think about it who he has now bested:
Mansell
Stewart
Gentleman Jim
Damon Hill
Sir Stirling Moss...

Now sits tied with Alonso for fifth all time. Behind only Schumi, Prost, Senna and Vettel.

Was a beautiful day here today, someday will need to go see it in person. Saw on the news there were 107,000 attendance today. Hopefully that keeps the F1 race here for awhile. Seems like the drivers and crews enjoy coming to Austin.

Is that 2 in a row for Hamilton at COTA?

That's pretty cool for Hamilton. Don't think he's a better driver than a couple of those. My dad has seen them all. I think he'd go with Moss.

John Watson was the top British driver I guess when I started following F1 as a kid. Saw him win the Long Beach Grand Prix in 1983. My dad and I had seats near the hairpin.

I agree Texas Jefe. Maybe we can get a cadre of SportsHoopla folks to go some year and watch it in person. Its on my bucket list.:yahoo:

One day my son and I are going to train it across Canuckistan to Montreal.

One day.

But will be after I retire cause the race is always during month-end and I'm a beancounter.

I loved having a house that was just three blocks N. of IMS back in '99-'10.

... Not that I miss the neighborhood these days: It was going downhill.

Would love to make it to COTA... someday. *sighs* :(

that would be a blast. I've wanted to go, but just have not done it yet.

and I saw Hamilton has won 2 out of 3 at COTA. Won the first one, then this year.

Have not kept track last 3 or 4 races: Hamilton was trailing his teammate. Has he passed him in points? I know there for most of the season, it didn't look like he would catch up, and there was some squabbling on the team and jockeying on the track between the two.

Well Hamilton has won five straight and 10 overall and he has passed Rosberg, Texas Jefe. But methinks that possibly next year we should put together a mass SportsHoopla migration to COTA and watch that damn race.
