The F-1 fellas and teams move to Ferrari's home track in Italy, Shortly known as Monza. Hamilton will suffer a grid Penalty for adding a new engine but he remains in 6th place for the Championship. Verstappen continues his march toward his second consecutive championship and I don't see RB suffering any deficits at Monza. So on we go to Sunday for the race.

Big news so far (besides all the grid penalties) Horner: “Different DNA” key to end of Porsche/Red Bull F1 deal

Porsche and Red Bull deal dead because of what Horner is calling "Different DNA". I take that to mean that Porsche just focuses, has success and wins whereas no one at Red Bull can so much as stub a toe without crying about Toto Wolff.

That's spot on 43. Frikin fragile pussy boys at F-1 get the undies in a wad every time somebody wants to come in and run with their competitors and maybe even be better then they changing the status quo. I was always under the impression that the purpose of racing was to increase competition not create a fragile plastic form of it. Cryin' up a storm and denying people their genius in racing efforts like Porsche and possibly Andretti with Alpha and McClaren is just such phony bullshit to be laughable.

Six drivers get grid penalties due to adding new engines, gearboxes, or both. The six are: Verstappen, Hamilton, Sainz, Perez, Botas, Tsunoda. Verstappen gets a 5-place penalty, Hamilton goes to the back of the field as does Sainz, Perez and Tsunoda get a 10-place penalty, and Bottas gets a 15-place penalty.

With all the grid penalties and the apparent straight line speed of the Williams now, it’s unfortunate we won’t see Albon

I think this has more to do with growing speculation that Honda will probably hop back into the F1 game (imagine that) after the new engine regulations were set, and they could potentially be a better partner given their history, but whatever.

Ayrton Senna drove Hondas for many years before he joined McLaren.

Grid penalties messing everything up. Verstappen starting p7 and Nyck DeVries in relief of Albon puts in p8, so all dutch 4th row.

Interestingly enough, Magnussen qualified 19th, with everyone else's penalties he is starting 16th.

I'll take

Yea, LeClerc takes pole and the provisional order is Russell starts Second, followed by Norris and Ricciardo. Verstappen starts like 7th. Sainz and Hamilton are in the back and Magnusson gets a "promotion". Bottas is in the Back. Perez is like 13th. Apparently everyone said eff-it to get around the perceived stupid F-1 Rule limiting the amount of engines and gearboxes that can be used in a SEASON of F-1 Racing.

Are we going to forget Bottas was essentially using disposable engines for the 2nd half of last year to try to protect Lewis?
There need to be different penalties if new components can overcome the grid penalties. Make it constructor points.

I agree. F-1 is the only racing series that limits the number of engines and gearboxes a team can use in a season. Shoot, NHRA sanctioned Drag racing has no such rule because they change-out engine components before every pass and sometimes they put entire blocks and transmission in 75 minutes no less. IndyCar and NASCAR are well known for their multiple engine-transmission swaps per season. Just dumb for F-1.

The original purpose was to limit costs but with all of the corporate and factory involvement that brings massive monetary resources, that Rule should be trashed. BTW, it was one of the contentions Andretti had for F-1 in his attempt to gain a team.

Ferrari and McLaren in the late 90's and early 2000s had Quali engines that were essentially 10 lap grenades but super fast. The reason for putting caps on is dead on, but with cost caps now it's kind of redundant.

Instead of grid penalties they should dock championship points if they go over allocations.

It is a team sport and if the team makes shit engines it should cost them.
