Not exactly a household name, but we could nickname him outa-here! He allows more than 2 homeruns per 9 innings. Just another minor league deal by Amaro, but this one makes no sense!

At first I read "Barry Bonds" which would have been extremely interesting. But then again I'd have to put up with 5000 fans bitching about "adding age" by signing a player to a minor league contract.

He used to play for Arizona. He makes his living in the minors.

He makes his living in the minors. More like stealing if you ask me. His ERA in the minors last season was over 7.28. He allowed over 2.2 home runs per 9 innings, and he does not strike out a lot of hitters. But, he is a perfect fit for the Phillies. At least he is under 35 years old! (Just wanted to say something positive.)

Yeah not sure how he has a job. Every time we called him up for a spot start I was like :L.

It looks like he was a serviceable 5th starter for about a half season in 2010, but with his history of HRs given up I can't see how he could possibly be successful in the majors at CBP.

I watched "Money Ball" last night with Brad Pitt playing Billy Bean and when he picks up the phone to talk with Ed Wade of the Phillies to discuss a trade about Jason Giambi, I snickered and thought: "Geez, we'd be light years ahead of where we are now if Wade was running the show." Shoot, a monkey picking labeled peanuts out of hat could do better that the present situation.

I never saw moneyball. So who made the call, Wade or Beane?

Pitt called Ed Wade and told him that he was in the business of killing Natzees and Wade, AKA the Bear Jew, beat the shit out of Lieberthal.

I am confused how this even has any value!

I am confused by anything that Amaro does! The value comes in the form of something that our GM does, that confuses Philly fans. As frustrated fans, we just need something to talk about. So, when we get a player that is under 33 years old, that is worthy of discussion! It does not matter if his minor league ERA was over 7.20. When the regular season starts, there will be a lot of posts containing value. Until then, anything goes!

Beane made the call to Wade, Cedrique. And if you remember correctly, the Phillies made the trade.

Are you talking about Jeremy Giambi? Or is the movie fictional?

yeah, Jeremy had a great half season with the Phillies. It's weird how he was traded the next year and only played another half season in the majors. He must have had some kind of injury

I believe it might have been the effects of cessation of steroid use. By the time he got to the Yankees, his body was completely shot and out the door he went.
