It is $16 million of their money. Perhaps they needed to give more for the one year...

He was ok last year, and Philly needs SP....

Did they overpay? Certainly.

Can they afford it? Apparently.

Will it be worth it?

no he will not be worth it

What exactly are you basing this on? Their last two season on the whole are pretty comparable.
Well then you either have no idea what you're talking about or have an interesting definition of "comparable".

2012-2013
Kuroda
421 IP, 125 ERA+, 1.164 WHIP, 8.5 H/9, 1.0 HR/9, 2.0 BB/9, 6.8 K/9, 3.37 K/BB, 9.6 WAR, while pitching his home games in a bandbox, and many of his road games in Fenway and Camden, in the toughest division in baseball.

Burnett
393.1 IP, 107 ERA+, 1.228 WHIP, 8.1 H/9, 0.8 HR/9, 3.0 BB/9, 8.9 K/9, 3.02 K/BB, 3.9 WAR while getting to face pitchers and teams like the Brewers and Cubs on the regular.

So Kuroda pitched 30 more innings and put up better numbers against tougher competition in tougher environments, but they're comparable? How does that work?

dont forget, Kuroda is also 38 and 39 yrs old while putting up those numbers....but thats just throwing stones now.

Burnett has been overpaid since he left Florida.

Oh you use BR WAR, not a fan. Fangraphs has them at 7.0 for Burnett and 7.5 for Kuroda.
