It's Pete Mackanin. I did see him with a huge smile in the dugout last night after someone's amusing comment I guess. This reminded me that Sandberg rarely showed any emotion while on the job. He always seemed intense. But unable to say to Howard or to Utley, e.g., "I'm giving Ruf (or Hernandez) a shot at it for a few weeks. We need to look at the younger players." He needed to take more command as manager. And I don't think he was ordered not to do things like that.

Agreed, retro, a slug so far. And they all keep saying, "we'll carry on." Dumb. Why doesn't an interim manager assert himself and do what needs to be done and state it. Mackanin should execute changes immediately and/or discuss his strategy for winning even if he knows he won't be there long term.

The reason Mackanin is not doing what you suggest? He is like everyone else in the FO-braindead. He has no strategy for winning. He is just showing up for a paycheck. This team has nothing but money and people are just showing up to get free money basically. Apparently that is one of the reasons Sandberg had enough and quit. He couldn't stand the losing and the complete fraud this team and braindead are. It is a compete joke.

After the FO shake up, I wonder who will finally surface in the future as a strong, experience manager who's decisive and bright enough make changes to turn this team around. There must be someone out there who fits the bill and needs a job.

Yea, he's over at the Flyers making great changes and draft picks to turn the franchise around. I speaking of Ron Hextall, jvett.

Nah, Clint's too old. No wait. He'd just shoot everybody that was crap. Maybe.

Get Tony LaRussa. He's only 70. Get the bum out of retirement. Hey, how about Charlie? Bad idea. Derek Jeter's looking for a new challenge. Earl Weaver, ...he's dead.

Joe Maddon was the guy. Too bad they didn't fire Amaro a couple years ago.
