bas$@$@ also sucks a fat dick. his control problems are slightly less than aumont, but still a major problem. if not for the pen being so horrible to begin with, i can't picture him around.

I really like him, even despite his control issues. He's probably our second best reliever after Paps at this point.

this is why it's so hard to get into the phils these days. no excuse why giles shouldn't be up. that was his 9th right there. upper 90's, solid control this year. game would have been over. instead he just goes from AA to AAA. wasting the time of team, fans and player.

I can't argue with that after watching Sandberg just ignoring Garcia and Manship all series. If you can't trust those guys at all, why even have them travel with the team?

By the way, not really blaming Sandberg--those guys suck

Yeah, it's not like Giles has to close this year if he came up. You could ease him in and if he pitches well he could eventually become our 8th inning guy

i always forget manship is actually on the team until he comes in for his occasional appearance. that's just sad. this cupcake is almost a lock to allow at least one baserunner every outing.

if we had just a slightly better pen, we could easily be 20-16 right now (this game included.) not making any attempt to upgrade is nothing short of a fucking joke. much like last year, this is why i don't even watch that many games any more. who wants to waste 3-4 hours just to see some clown blow the game? at least if you're a football fan.. you just do it once a week.

Gwynn was 0 for 6 now at .189. Why keep this dope? We could have won this game with Revere in the game. Wake up Shamberger.

1st -T Gwynn Jr. popped out to shortstop.
3rd - T Gwynn Jr. struck out swinging.
4th, 2 men on - T Gwynn Jr. flied out to center.
7th - T Gwynn Jr. bunt grounded out to first.
9th - T Gwynn Jr. popped out to shortstop.
11th - T Gwynn Jr. grounded out to second.

Yeah, they are taking the long route to developing a decent pen. Out of the recent crop of players (Aumont/DeFratus/Savery/Rosenberg.....the list goes on) they have tried Diekman looks like the only one that will survive

I think Rosenberg has the next best chance after Diekman to succeed, but even he is somewhat of a long shot.

I think Aumont and De Festus are great pitchers. And by great, I mean it in this context:

"Camden is a great place to live"- Dana Redd, mayor of Camden, NJ
