Yes, they’ve scored 3 or less, X amount of times, and that’s a problem… but when you score 4 runs a game, and your pitching staff allows less than 4 runs per game, you should win more than you lose. And that is exactly what the Phillies have done thus far in 2011 (a team ERA of 3.17 combined with an offense that averages 3.97 runs per game). Maybe that gap between ERA and Runs is too close… and maybe we are getting away with wins… but maybe that was the Front Office’s plan all along?

So the rumor coming out of Houston is Domonick Brown for Hunter Pence. That would be a good deal for this year but he's ready for a new deal and will want to get paid after this year. We have Brown tied up for a few years and he's young. I say no deal.

Exactly Joe, I am sick of everybody bitching at the Phillies lack of fire power. All they have is the best record in baseball but for some thats not enough. Go figure.

On a side note the Cubs staff ERA is the worst in all of MLB - Maybe our hitters can pad some numbers this weekend.

Hunter would be a big help and I am sure he would love play on a team that is a contender but that sounds like a long shot. I agree with you about Dom too. He is a young upcoming guy so it would be hard to see him go.

I checked the Phillies MLB rankings for the years 2011 and 2008 (pitching, fielding and batting) - from Fuxsports:
2011
Pitching 2nd
Fielding 5th
Batting 20th

2008
Pitching 6th
Fielding 12th
Batting 23rd

I suppose the stats don't really reflect my recollection of the strendths/weaknesses of the '08 team Vs the '11 team. Of course, stats are often misleading or incomplete especially if it's just an overview.
