The Detroit Free Press reports "odds are" the Lions and free agent Brandon Pettigrew won't agree to a new deal before the weekend.

I'm fine with this. I like Fauria and the Lions could use a new TE anyways.

Maybe it will help drive his price down or someone will overpay and we won't have to deal with another ballooned contract.

I am fine in a post Pettigrew world, but I am not convinced Fauria is a #1 option. Having a TE that is able to catch easy passes and not fumble at the absolute worst time will be refreshing. I am curious to see how Williams does as the blocking TE this year
