Think the downward spiral he's referring to is the fact that the Seahawks went to back to back Super Bowls (1 play from winning back to back Super Bowls) but now haven't made it past the 2nd round since 2014, including missing the playoffs last year. Tough to consider him the 2nd best coach in the NFL when he didn't make the playoffs last year and Seattle hasn't been able to keep up with the competition the last 4 years like the 2012-2014 Seahawks were able to do.

So he spiraled downward from 2nd to around 4th or 5th?

4th or 5th best coach but he's went from perennial Super Bowl favorite to not making the playoffs last year. If that's the kind of progress, or lack thereof, you want in your sports teams then more power to you. I personally like not so much regression in my sports teams' success.

I am not saying this just because I am a seahawks fan but Pete and John Schneider has done an amazing job since coming on. Building a team and making pro bowlers out of middle to late round draft picks. Not following the ridiculous mock drafts and prospect rankings and drafting guys they want taking guys like Wilson and wagner in the 2nd and 3rd round when they were supposed to be 4th and 5th round talent.

What never gets mentioned is that Pete had this success while going on up great divisional opponents like john harbough and the 49ers, Bruce Arians cardinals, and now Sean McVay and the rams. unlike the patriots who notoriously play in a division where the 3 other teams have been a joke franchise

Pete Carroll didn't have this success while Sean McVay has been coach of the Rams. Last year they missed the playoffs and this year they finished behind them again and got swept by them.

Last year I would have agreed with you. But not now. He 'drained the swamp' and took a team predicted to win 4-6 games and coached them to what ultimately will be a 10-win team. So it makes me think that the way he wanted to coach in previous years was somewhat compromised by big egos and big salaries on the team (that are no longer here).

So making the playoffs with a team that was supposed to win 4-5 games in a division with a loaded rams team isn't success? Last year it wasn't as though they didn't have a competitive record 9 wins usually gets you in the playoffs but the NFC South was loaded with 10 and 11 win teams

So regression? Like your Steelers? Cuz I'm pretty sure they were picked to finish in the top 2 in the AFC this year. Will they even make the playoffs? Keep on trolling but I would worry about my own team before you start taking shots at another.

Last year those players got hurt and many impact players are not on this year's team. This year was clearly a season to let youth play and restock for a run the next 2-3 years. And yet the Hawks are in the playoffs.

If you want a coach fired because he misses the playoffs 1 season after the franchise's greatest stretch, your expectations are way too high, and Pete is proving that this year. He's done an incredible job this year and now has a chance to put together a new batch of players to make another great run.

Who predicted Seattle to win 4-6 games? Post the link please.

Every place I've seen has them winning at least 7 games.

Last I checked, this thread is about the Seahawks, not any other team. Last I checked, the Seahawks were on the verge of being a DYNASTY, but have since fallen off. Noone is saying they suck, noone is saying they have become a crap team, but there is NO denying they have declined in success and part of that is due to the Rams now being a juggernaut.

But yea, instead of having a constructive conversation, let's do the whole "you said bad things about my team so I'm gonna say bad things about yours" childish dialogue.

I guess we have differing ideas on what a "downward spiral" is. Since RW arrived in 2012, last season was the only one without double digit wins. Expecting a team to make the SB every year is wildly unrealistic unless you're playing in a league of Washington Generals. Through the stretch of 2012-2016, the only other team to win double digits and make the divisional round or better every year was the Patriots. And now PC has taken a team that was supposed to be a loser and is on track for 10 wins again and already in the playoffs. If that's a downward spiral, what are we to say about 28 or 29 of the other teams in the league?
