Letting the clock run down. Call timeout with 20 seconds left. If they don't score, the game is over anyway. But if they do score, atleast you have a small chance at a long FG with a good return.

Fisher made a stupid move by going empty with a bad QB. Gotta atleast give the appearance of run there.

Agree with the bold. You at least had to represent run.

I'm a diehard Hawks fan and all I can say is... I have never seen such stupidity towards the end of a game. He has the opportunity to take some timeouts.... conserve the clock for one final drive... but instead he leaves his offense zero time to do anything.

Yeah, not calling a timeout there was odd, but it all worked out

On one hand it kinda does make sense. Call timeouts to give an offense that hasn't really done anything all game. Or put the game on the line against the semi strength that night in the defense?

Though to be fair you have one of the best defenses in the league and they have a back up QB and Shotty as OC and didnt make it into the end zone all game so I can see why he wasnt worried about saving time.

I was pissed when he wasn't using the timeouts but he was challenging the defense to win the game. The chances of the Seahawks getting into FG range were next to zero anyway so it was the right call.

Our offense didn't do squat all night.

Fuck it, let the clock run down and put the game in the hands of the guys who had a chance to get the job done.

The way our offense was playing preserving clock would've done nothing but give the Rams a chance to strip and score.

The Rams called timeout anyway with 4 seconds left. They were gonna get whatever play they wanted anyway.

A 1% chance is better than no chance when it is for free.

Yeah Fisher is an idiot. With the RB in the backfield you open up different options that the defense must consider that they did not have to consider with you going empty which were

1) The HB running play (likely a draw)

2) The HB Screen

Pete did the right thing. He wasn't concerned. He know that Clemons is a terrible QB and wouldn't be able to win it

I don't think it would have been very realistic to expect Seattle to march it down the field on the Rams for a winning score when they would need to do so throwing the ball and Wilson had zero time to make plays to that point. The Rams weren't going to just sit back in a soft zone with no rush and let Wilson sling it. They were going to keep sending Quinn and Long after Wilson. Carroll put the game in the hands of the defense and they came through again. Kept the Rams out of the end zone the entire night despite being on the field for almost 40 minutes; it was the difference between winning and losing.

I agree that Pete Carroll should have used his timeouts. To the Seahawk fans who supported Carroll's decision, did you guys forget that you have Russell Wilson as your QB? The guy's been magic so far in his career. To not save time for him in case the Rams scored is just wrong.

RW is magic, but he is useless on his back, which is where he was all night. If we would have called timeouts, it would have been more of the same.

With the "protection" Wilson was getting all night, it was a safer bet to let the defense win it. If he wasn't getting crushed on 40% of his drop backs, I'd say use the timeouts and try to get into field goal range, but putting him in a position to have throw the ball when the defense knows he has to throw it, on a night when he'd already been sacked 7 times? I'll take my chances with one of the best defenses in the league clamping down when they need to.

I agree that the time outs should've been used. Even if the Rams scored, you still have the risk of a big play on the kickoff or Russell Wilson's magic possibly to get within FG range.

A really good example of this was the playoff game last year vs. the Falcons. The Hawks took a 1 pt lead with about 30+ seconds left and the Falcons won the game.

At the end, Carroll was playing with the defense card and it worked out and rightfully so I might say with the offense being the way it was all night.
