Starting to think Crosby is a big puss. Does he sit out if ANYTHING is wrong with him? Over 2 weeks with what was considered a mild concussion seems a bit extensive to me.

This shows exactly how much depth the Penguins have, and dont give me that 30% of your roster bullshit, you are not missing 30% of your team.

Retarded Philly fans. Sid and Geno form 30% of the paid roster.

Let us not forget the 07 Playoffs. Concussions aren't like a sprain or even a broken foot/wrist/hand/whatever. They're something you ABSOLUTELY can't play through. You have to wait and be patient, and that's frustrating. And don't listen to that BS about 'mild' concussion. A concussion is a concussion, there's no reason to grade it except for the media to feel better about saying he'll be back soon. It's merely something you have to just sit on until the symptoms subside. When that happens he'll take 2 tests (I presume at least 2): an Impact test (concussion diagnostic test that shows where you are cognitively in comparison to your baseline test ((taken when you aren't concussed obviously)).) followed by an exertion test (basically they run you until you're gonna puke and see if any symptoms return. If they return during/after exercise you're basically on the shelf for another couple of days. And this pattern happens until it's gone. There's literally nothing they can do except tell him to sleep/rest, stay away from places with a lot of flashing lights/sounds (hence why he's not at games even), and not study film or anything. The brain has to rest to heal, and that's tough when we constantly use it...so it's not a quick fix by any means.

I am not doubting anything you are saying, but he seems to sit out quite frequently with what appears to be minor injuries. Over 2 weeks with a concussion that didnt even leave him unconcious seems a bit to cautious. I cant remember many times in sports across the board where it took this long with even when someone was KTFO.

Well, I guess the point I'm trying to make is this: concussions aren't one size fits all. While some players are 'healed' within a week, others may not be 'healed' for months (I know of an athlete at my university who still gets occasional headaches after over a year...he doesn't play anymore), it just depends on the person. Bottom line is this: don't push yourself with this injury. It's not worth losing an entire career (especially since he played at LEAST 1 period + with it).

Learn to read dipshit, I said THEY'RE NOT MISSING 30% OF THEIR TEAM. Is 30% of their team missing? I dont give a shit if 30% of your payroll is missing, DEPTH COMES FROM PLAYERS NOT PAY ROLL. LACK OF DEPTH.

Guys, calm it down. Clearly the Pens aren't missing 30% of their team (or the production really. Geno's certainly not producing 15% or anything like that...).

What you fail to realize is payroll is directly related to depth.

For instance, if we removed 30% of the flyers scoring power (i.e. like the Pens are missing theirs currently), an equivalent would be Briere(6.2), Richards(5.7) and Carter(5.0). That still leaves about a million dollars short of 30% of your current cap hit. Your team would be a shell of itself when speaking about scoring goals. If those three players were taken away from your offense Philly would struggle because they drive that play-making ability when it comes to scoring goals.

This was a discussion that you really had nothing at all to do with. A debate was brought up on a previous gnt when a flyers fan opined that the Pens weakness is lack of quality scoring depth.

I pointed out that the biggest weakness this team suffered from in the immediate past was lack of quality defensemen. To further prove my point, i pointed out that the Pens played for a cup (2008), and won a cup (2009) with more or less the same scoring depth they have today.

When you take away two players the caliber of Sid and Geno, the team will suffer is the goal scoring department. That's just a fact of nature. No amount of scoring depth will overcome their absence.

I dont agree with that argument at all since payroll percentage could mean alot of players in some cases and 1 player in another (DIE KOVY DIE).

You can agree/disagree with it. Fair is fair. But, when just two players are forming 30% of your teams' payroll, and they are absent from the lineup, it's safe to say that they not only are very skilled players, obvious by their salaries, but that 30% is not easily replaceable.

Scoring depth isn't going to replicate two players who are making over a 1/4 of the teams' payroll.

Question not meant to incite: Isn't the Scranton-Wilkes Barrie team supposedly the class of the AHL?? If the Pen's scoring depth is in question....why not bring up a couple of those kids until the scrambled egg twins recoup??

I don't know how you justify that. If the Pens didn't have 30% of their roster tied up in two players, that could easily be distributed among 3, maybe 4 above average scoring wingers.

But, if you subtract Malkin and Crosby, and replace them with 3 or 4 25+ goal scoring wingers, is that going to make them a more dangerous Stanley Cup contender? That was the ORIGINAL debate. A flyer fan opined that the Pens weakness is scoring depth, and I argued that their weakness was quality defensemen, which has been addressed.

The scoring depth the Pens currently have will be more than sufficient in the playoffs. It has been the past three years, two of which were SCF appearances.

Their weakness was addressed in the offseason with the additions of Z and Martin. Plus, they've also gotten a greater contribution from Engelland, Tanger and Goligoski.

Ironically we don't have a lot of cap space for these guys to be up and down (hence why DJ has been sent down/called up a ton lately, just don't have the space to keep him up for long), and really I think the success of the Baby Pens is in the way they play as a team, because really there's not one guy who's stealing the show (although DJ's their best player when there).

If your entire scoring depth is two players, then thats not depth
