Good signing and real good price. Honestly this is the price I think TK should take also but won't.

That is a great price for Duper! He's basically taking the same deal he had last season... hometown discount:)

Fantastic deal. I think I heard something about a NMC? Not a big deal to me. Good stuff.

Also, funny to think he was the throw in on the Hossa deal, he's honestly better than any other player outside of Hoss in that deal.

This is pretty much right in line with what I would have given him, only 100K more, so I'm very pleased with this signing. The nice thing about Dupuis is that he can play any role, so he can always have a spot on this team no matter how it evolves.

Honestly, this deal should set the market for guys like TK, so we'll see if it does I suppose.

The 20-goal thing might drive TK's price up a bit, but when you look at it, his career averages are very comparable to Dupuis's, and he's less valuable defensively, so I can't see justifying spending any more than 1.8 on him.

Oh, and his hockey IQ is lower, too.

Haha, I was thinking of you, of course, when I made that post. ;)

:tea:

It's just a damn good signing by Ray, and I give props to Dupuis for being a team player. He obviously loves playing in Pittsburgh. He prolly could have got more money on the open market.

You always make more than you're worth on the open market.

My market is much cheaper than the free agent market. Which is why the team I build in my head is always better than what can actually happen in reality.

But I'm very scrutinizing, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

Duper would've been a top FA had he gone to the market. So this is really a discount deal.

If it hadn't been for Sid and Geno's injuries, I have a feeling Dupuis would have eclipsed 25 goals, last season. He was really playing better on the top six, and their injuries took away from his overall productivity.

Outside of goal production, he's just an all around great hockey player. I never see him take a shift off, or not put up 100%. Good for Ray and Pascal.

I don't mind keeping Dupuis, as long as he ends up bottom six. I'd like to see us sign TK, but let Talbot and Rupp walk. Top lines (Sid, Geno, Neal and Kunitz) will hopefully get rounded out with Jagr and one of Tangredi / Jeffrey / TK.

Dupuis is great in the bottom six at this price. But I hate seeing him play with Geno or Sid.

this is good.. some of your fellows think he's a little more valuable then he is i think

then again i probably under-rate him.. so i think his true value lies somewhere in between

but just think, you could've had jody shelley for this price!!! :L

It's not that he should be on the top 6, but he has proven that he can play there... if nec.. injuries or what not... which also adds value
