As long as Jagr doesn't sign until July 1st, there are no waiver issues. He will essentially be a free agent. However, unlike other players who are becoming free agents on July 1st, Jagr can hold contract negotiations with whoever he wants, as nobody in the NHL currently holds his rights.I just was poking around the Post Gazette site and hurried back and was beaten to the post! I'm surprised that the offer occurred before July 1st since I thought if he accepts an offer before then he has to clear waivers or something. But who knows... maybe it's a special case because he wasn't in the NHL the last few years.
So yeah, they could shake on a deal, and then wait until July 1st to sign.
That makes more sense. But why would the Pens release this information? Wouldn't that just increase pressure from competitors?
Or maybe he told them he only wants to play in Pitt., which I could understand.
I'm hoping it's less than 2 million. I'd be alright with 2 and change, anything above 2.5 is too rich for the Pens cap. I wish Ray luck
Agreed.
Let's give him Dupuis money.
And that may be all he's worth. The guy is 39. I'm not saying he couldn't pull a Teemu Selanne like run, because lord knows Jagr has other-worldly talent, but I just don't know if he has the legs to do that.
Agreed.
Let's give him Dupuis money.
Better yet, give him Dupuis' money...Pascal can play for food.
