Guarantee the Pens miss Duper...I am very sad by this but grateful he can retire and be with his family. He is my favorite current Pen since coming to the team. Love the DUP and think this makes the Pens worse...

Prayers for a long healthy life and hopefully a job with fghe Pens office!

Tough to see a guy go out like that, think it is for the best for all involved though. Was truly one of the great role players in Penguins history.

Guy specialized in getting the puck off his stick, watch the video, the puck was never on his stick for more than a second before he got a high quality shot on net.

Agreed Scouty, would like to see him stay with the org in some capacity.

Sad day seeing him have to retire under these circumstances. Anyway health and like is way more important.

To this day that trade still made me laugh how folks were up in arms about the Penguins losing forward "depth" in renting Hossa.
All 4 players sent away: After the trade played 519 NHL games and scored 86 goals.
Dupuis played 452 games as a Penguin and scored 109 goals.

The silver lining in this is they will have cap space to work with at the trade deadline to upgrade the defense.

Getting rid of Scuderi would be an upgrade

The team looked so much more fluid without him in the lineup last night. Exits were quicker, and the team could actually sustain some pressure. Colorado isn't very good, but there was still a noticeable difference without Scuds flubbing the puck over and over in his own end.

There is no way you can play Scuds against the Kings tomorrow night. They will eat his slow ass alive. Of course, Warsovsky will probably get killed too since he's a foot shorter than the entire Kings roster.

Yeah, Pens struggle against these big, hitting teams...especially Skid. Maybe they could pick up a defenseman with some size and balls with Dupers money?

Oh we all know Scuds is playing tonight. You know they love that veteran presence on the blue line. :L

Seriously though he will be in, Letang is out again with an injury.

Side note I think with Scuderi out of the lineup the Penguins are undefeated.

Haven't seen the WBS team play but I hope Sullivan lets a highly talented offensive team play offense.

Welp, I'm not surprised, have been some rumblings on twitter about Rutherford not being happy with Johnston.

Will see what happens with Sullivan. I have no idea about his abilities as a coach, but seemed like he did a good job in WBS.

Also, I'm not surprised that Tocchet and Martin were kept on since they were hired before Johnston, but it is weird to have two organizational assistants, with the head coach not able to install his own guys. Can't say I'm a fan of it.

Especially considering how terrible the pp has been, and that being a major reason Tocchet is here.

Also, is WBS playing their own system? Of do they copy the Pens system to keep the synergy?

You would assume they use the same system. If that is the case then lets hope Sullivan can get more out of these players.

As for Martin and Tocchet staying is odd and I am not a fan of that either. Their PP is awful and if they had any execution on it they would have won quite a few more games.

I thought Agnew did his job the best of all the coaches, and Tocchet to me was more of a problem than Johnston. And Johnston was also running a very Martin system this year after having a much more open one last season. I think 2014-15 Johnston's system would have been great with the addition of Kessel, but that's not what we're doing anymore.

I guess basically the point I'm making is that Johnston was set up to fail, more or less. He had to serve too many masters. This was the result.

If they do the same with Sullivan (or anyone else for that matter), we're going to get more of the same, I fear.

I was hoping for this move all season. Thought it would happen at the end of the season but it came just in time for Christmas.
