Sat on the second level of Verizon, pretty much center ice. Club level seats are awesome. No lines to deal with, and all the caps fans were pretty friendly. I brought the Artie Stevens jersey out for the game.

First period was bonkers. AO was lighting anyone up in a Pens sweater, the building was roaring, but Sid won a face off, and PaulMart made it 1-0. Getting that first goal in DC was vital. The crowd wasn't the same after that. Even though Greene answered it relatively quickly, the Pens never had to play from behind, which is important when they are in enemy territory. You could feel the hatred the fans have for Pittsburgh. I loved it, especially on the way out o the building.

Sid's line dominated all game long. The pairing of Orpik and Martin is a match made in heaven right now. Bortuzzo looks legit, glad we wdidn't lose him to waivers like Strait, and Boychuk is now probably the fastest skater on the club, overtaking Dupuis and Letang. He just needs to learn how to finish.

Great game to see in person. Pretty much a wide open affair all three periods. See you caps fans in Pittsburgh real soon

The results of this game did not surprise me. Some of the Caps decisions did and Holtby had a rough afternoon. This team is a long ways away but I like the energy.

NHL has credited the first Pens goal to Kunitz, and we have a four goal game.

Didn't watch the game, but read in a recap that Oates is trying to implement a new defensive scheme. Something along the lines of what he saw in NJ, but quite a bit more complicated than the man-to-man approach that Hunter preached last season.

Caps fans, what do you think? Seems like a mistake imo....

I was watching HockeyCentral today and Doug MacLean was going off on the supposed complexities of Oates' defensive schemes/system. In summary, he thought anyone who was saying that Oates' system is too complex is full of crap.

/Of course, often times I think MacLean is full of crap...
