Pens at Canes GNT

Jordan Staal is a -15 on the season (someone misses Cam Ward). Brandon Sutter is a +4. Both with 9 goals on the year, though Staal edges him with 14-5 in assists. Makes you wonder...is each team getting what they wanted? Always interesting story line when these two matchup. Another one developing: Jussi Jokinen. He was BIG last game against NYR, will he show up big again in Carolina? Me thinks a goal is in order. The Canes won the only other matchup this season 4-1 in the last game before the Pens went streaking. The Pens will be without Crosby, Neal, Letang, and Martin, and Despres will not be starting. Flower in the cage for the Pens, Ellis for the Canes.

I know this much.. if Shero hadn't traded Staal to Carolina, and instead had signed him to the deal he later inked with the Canes, Jarome Iginla and/or Brenden Morrow likely wouldn't be Pittsburgh Penguins as they probably could not have afforded them.

Trading Staal for Sutter opened up about 2 million of cap space for Pittsburgh, which has come in handy over the past few weeks for Shero to work his trade magic.

You might be right. I'd say the Canes are catching the Pens at the right time, as Pittsburgh will be without the services of James Neal, as well as Sid, Martin and Letang.

Canes put a beat down on the Pens last time...good team speed may give the Pens some issues. That said, this is probably a goalie matchup. Geno NEEDS TO SCORE tonight. Well, he at least needs to pot 5 or so before we hit the postseason...he has yet to hit his stride this season w/ injuries and coming back from said injuries.
