I was watching the 1st period of Flyers/Ducks game last night, and the Flyers announcers were discussing Penner's pattern of inconsistent effort through the years. The Flyers color guy Keith Jones adds this gem: Penner was coasting earlier in the year and Getzlaf sat him down and told him everyone works hard on this team all the time.

That, gentlemen, is leadership on and off the ice...

That is how it should be done for sure. Did he sit him down at the Internationl House of Pancakes by chance? Almost like courting a new client or something, he just knew how to really connect with his teammate.

Truth is we dont know what Brown does in the locker room. He may be screaming at the other guys or he may take them to lunch and talk it through. He says he wants to lead by example. It seems the rest of the team has followed him into a slump
