I am so ready for the season to get here. I can't make first home game, but will be able to watch from beachfront bar so I can live with it. Really feeling cautiously optomistic about our OL, the young guys are really pushing and there is true 2 deep for first time in Franklin era. Bates is going to be a good one and don't be surprised to see a lot of Menet and McGovern (especially Mcgovern earlier) as the season wears on. Sounds like the scheme has made life a lot easier for them, less complex calls and assignments and the mobile QB threat helps as well. Could be a fun team to watch, especially as season goes on and they become more and more comfortable in this new O......just has a bit of 2002 season feel to it where Mills and LJ brought us back for a 9 win season when everyone was throwing dirt on the programs grave after 2 losing seasons with an old man for coach.

Potential transfer may be coming in. We will know by the end of the week. George Brown, a guy Franklin recruited at both Vandy and PSU is leaving LSU. He will have 3 years to play 3 after sitting out this season. He is an OT and running second team with the tigers now. Coming down to PSU, MSU, Miami, UCLA

Trace McSorely announced the starter for Kent game. No shocker there.

Also of real interest, SAnders, Gilikin and oh yeah, McGovern green lights to play vs Kent. I think McGovern will be starter at guard opposite Bates by midseason. He'll start at center next year and Menet will slide into other guard and middle of our OL will be a wall for 3 years.

Love that Gilikin got the green light. Heard he has been booming kicks and very consistent last couple weeks....our punting game killed us last couple years.

First piece of bad news from camp. Nick Bowers, who would've been TE2, out for season. Kid is very athletic and a very good blocker. Really hope Gesecki is out of his own head, Penacoast will be suitable #2, but we can go with 4 WR all day if need be

I think he's been suspended for a while but they didn't really have to address it till Nelly went down for year and people asked about Beh.....I mean, you don't usually go from battling for starters spot in Spring to off the depth chart when nobody else really stepped forward. Really hope they avoid burning Fries RS, it paid off keeping Bates RS, want them to save Fries. Palmer looked decent when he came in last game.

Finally in the top 25 ranking as we sit at #24. First time in 4 years. Can't say enough how big a win that game was for our program.

That win was enormous for so many reason. It takes away all the fire Franklin nonsense our horrible beat writers were pounding the drum on and making it easy for others to use it against us in recruiting, gives you a big spike in recruiting for this class and next, gives team feeling they CAN beat anyone now and really shows how much we've kept improving steadily since losing to a pitt team that we would maul if we played now. Irvin Charles 80yd TD against Minny may be the turning point we look back at for years to come....team has been on fire since that play. love this team, love this staff, let's keep it rolling...great shot at 9-10 wins with our remaining schedule now

We also had a lot of motivation vs OSU that we won't have the rest of the year. Playing a night game at Beaver Stadium with it being a White Out game was huge for us. Now if we can continue to play hard and not get over confident on last weeks win I agree we could reach the 9-10 wins. I'm a little upset at the PSU student body. My God how can we not have a sell out for that game. The cameras kept showing a huge part of empty seats where the students section was. It's a night game, white out vs Buckeyes and you don't show up. WOW

They showed up, but it was second quarter. My friends and I were bitching about it at beginning of game. They need to be there 30 minutes before kickoff...PSU should deny students who haven't attended at least 5 of the 7 home games the right to buy students tickets and let someone buy them who will show up.....they are doing digital scans now so they can easily keep track.

This team has a lot of fiery, vocal leaders, they still feel its us against the world and people still doubt them as well as the coach they love. They are motivated to prove them all wrong. Iowa has to come in for a night game as well, place will be rocking again. Still worried about indiana as I fear it will be another noon road kick and they are pretty good. First things first, go out and kick Purdue's ass like we should

Linebackeru I've noticed the empty seats at many games this year for big games across the country. I understand many schools are using the scan for basketball tickets later. But you don't have to stay. There were a lot of empty seats up high that I could see on TV late. And the Networks are trying not to show the empty areas.
I don't think it's just a Penn State issue.
I know it's a whole different sport but NASCAR is having the same problem. They are taking seats out.
Many NFL teams are removing seats too. I think the Skins took out or covered about 15,000.

The BIG Ten and others know it and it's even in the business model. TV sets, TV sets, at a nickle a subscriber in basic packages brought in more revenue with Rutgers and Maryland markets than paid out when they are fully tenured without any other sources considered. When they announced Maryland coming to the BIG in the DC area, included in the news release was a statement that it worked for Maryland with the stadium empty and with the ACC buyout (estimated at $50 mil at the time). That's why it didn't make a difference if Rutgers never was a Football or Basketball power or if Maryland is up and down over long periods. I was amazed that the TV business demographics had Rutgers out drawing Penn State and ND in the NY market and not by a little before joining. And add in the BIG Alumni in those two areas not from Maryland and Rutgers and the nickle a Cable TV deal was done in no time.

So younger fans just aren't going to live events like the old model. Is that fixable? Scan any sporting event even during action and those who are glued to their their phones is amazing.
Ok that was a rant.

Your schedule is working out to maybe be a big year for you guys.
Good Luck.

Oh yeah, its been trending that way for quite a few years now. HD TV becoming much more affordable and pretty much every game being available on TV or streamed live makes it easier for many to stay home. Penn state is actually doing a big renovation at Beaver stadium and it will cut capacity to upgrade comfort and amenities to help bring the younger demographic back in the fold.

Next week is going to be a tough game against Michigan St. They have really improved lately. A trip to Indiana is not close to be guaranteed. We really have to be on our A game vs the Spartans. Hopefully we get Mahon back. Now here is my question.

Would you rather us go 10-2 and not make the Championship game or go to the Championship game and lose (not saying we will just a scenario). Which would be better for our ranking?

Championship game of course, you get the extra exposure on that stage, you can say you won the division that also has Michigan and Ohio State in it and you create even more momentum for the program. Final ranking won't matter if we lose B1G title game.....go win a bowl, go 11-3 and we'll end up around top 10

As for MSU, our team will be jacked up for this one after last year. MSU playing better, but are a 1 player show on offense. Need to slow down Scott.
