What was Bortuzzo doing on that third goal? He skated right past a player wide open in front of the net to cover a player who was already being covered.

Also, why is he even in the game? He wasn't that good during Maatta's injury to have earned a spot, and Despres has been playing well.

doobie whats up!!! shootout going on in pitt.. fluery being left out to dry... defense looks like the rangers, lol... anyway who ever scores the first td in this 1 wins it. the isles commentator just got the chico homer award, guy was freekin out over the non- interference call on martin.....

That period could've been a lot worse. Hopefully they regroup during the intermission & tighten up on defense the rest of the way.

pitt fans can't be so hard on the team, my goodness its only the 1st, that save by fluery at peroids end got the fans back in, but they never should have been out, geez, u got best team in hockey...... i thought we rangers fans were crazy

I've liked Johnston overall so far, but scratching Despres in favor of Bortuzzo against a really fast team doesn't make a lot of sense. Every time he and Scuderi have been on the ice together, the Islanders have generated. A lot.

Goal #4 in on Hornqvist. That wasn't a hard pass to take, but even after he flubbed it, he needed to at least clear the zone.
